I hate to admit it but I don't know anything about the history of the area outside of myth and modern events. As a born / raised Jew all I learned in Hebrew school was about how the land was ours and so we got it back, and now the evil Jew hating Arabs want to kill us. (Though I'd like to point out my family itself was never this way, in their defense). Now that I'm an adult and we had this latest conflict, I'd really like to know the whole story. Why did Jews ever leave and end up being more common in Europe, for example? I'd like the whole story (with sources please) but it's so unrelated to my focus that I can't go off on a researching crusade. Any help would be appreciated.

So, naturally, you turn to a forum of anonymous opinions rather than something really primitive like a library or bookstore. Your thirst for truth is clearly strong ...

Here's a reasonable place to start: Jews - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As far as how we got more into Europe, scroll down to "diaspora".

Good luck with your studies.

Why the Jews, or at least some of them, left Judea 2000 years ago is an archeological question. The simple answer is that the Romans got tired of dealing with them. It was Roman property by then. The Jews became increasingly violent and the Romans crushed them. There are more detailed answers available.

For a well documented description of recent history I recommend "The Case for Israel", by Alan Dershowitz. It has been out for a few years and can probably be picked up on Amazon for a few dollars. It has the advantage of being written by a hardcore Zionist, no mistaking his bias. But it is factually accurate and you can check for yourself through the footnotes and links provided. The book didn't make me any Zionist, but at least I understood why some people are.

You are kidding, right?

That I'd like a timeline including Romans, the crusades and Muslim occupation knocking off the Jews, which is probably the most significant event?

"Education forum" hahahahahah.

Well, what you're asking is a huge subject. More easily available online than having people post it on RF.

I've been through Wikipedia and all that, I'm looking for a literal image timeline. Google searches don't yeild anything covering the whole history but rather just biased or modern info.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "literal image timeline", but let me name-drop another, and that's a book entitled "The History of the Jews" by Paul Johnson, who's an Anglo-Catholic. Excellent book, and he put's our history into the context of other related events.

I'm not asking anyone to create anything. It disappoints me that this is an apparently impossible task that is inconcievable to ask for.

Something like this?
https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/timeline.html

You have to understand why iam so unsure about this. You are asking basic Information about Jews and Judaism which i learned when i was 4 or 5.

Let's see, I went to a reformed Hebrew school as an uncaring and uninterested child, didn't exactly study Jewish history in school, and was only taught the most disappointingly average nonsense in Hebrew school to start. Not to mention I never cared until adulthood and psychology is about as far from majoring in Jewish / middle east history as you can get. Apologies I didn't ingrain our entire history into my memory verbatim through the bit of research I've done in my life. Maybe this is why nobody bothers asking.

I dont even get what your problem is. You got a general Jewish timeline from the very beginning to now and various book recommendations.

Is there any reason at all to act this way?

Oh I have no problem with the civil and helpful members of this site. No run of and insult some others who don't live up to your standards. I haven't needed to deal with pretentious arrogant members of Judaism since high school and I don't plan to start again.

They apparently didn't teach you manners either.
