Oh I have no problem with the civil and helpful members of this site. No run of and insult some others who don't live up to your standards. I haven't needed to deal with pretentious arrogant members of Judaism since high school and I don't plan to start again.

Aahhh. So you were bullied as a kid! That explains it...

Actually being referred to as the Jew and made fun of for being Jewish certainly and sadly had a major toll and contributed a lot to me not caring and falling out. I envy those who didn't get **** for it, definitely sucked. How it's related to history I have no idea.

Stop whining.

You come here because you would …
… like the whole story (with sources please) ...
but, you apparently have neither time nor interest in doing something as simple as an internet search, much less reading a book, apparently because …
... it's so unrelated to my focus that I can't go off on a researching crusade.
So you do not have the few seconds required to do an internet search on, e.g. Judaism Timeline, but plenty of time to ask others to do it for you, plenty of time to complain about your Jewish upbringing and, presumably, plenty of time to investigate the various links offered. Seriously?

And on what basis do you intend to evaluate these links?

I was very young when my dad (who had little disposable income) purchased the Encyclopaedia Britannica and Encyclopaedia Britannica Junior. I was also very young when, upon asking my parents questions regarding matters of fact, their first response would be: "Did you look it up?"

It's called being intellectually responsible ...

You're better than me I get it. I'll refrain from asking about my heritage and keep to bickering and penis measuring that our members on this "education" forum enforce.

Also, you may want to reconsider what is intellectual responsibility when you think people with no experience and no expertise should refrain from asking those vastly more educated on topics. That's pretty much where all ignorance comes from. But yeah, you're pro man.

There's a difference between:

-Researching something, not being satisfied with the results, then asking people for help,
-And not researching even a little bit, and going to people asking them for a detailed explanation on the subject with all the sources.

When you were in school, did you ask your teachers to explain things to you when you didn't bother to read the lectures or to do your homework beforehand?

Hi 1137,

I completely understand where you are coming from. Because of shabby treatment I received in the Judaism DIR, I refuse to set foot in there. I am a reform Jew, very secular, and here for the educational part.

Please let me know if there is anything I can help you understand.

Btw, there are some very reasonable Jewish posters here. I always enjoy Metis' posts and I enjoyed punkd's too, until he became a Buddhist (and I still enjoy his posts). :) The others here are religious extremists.

Right now I am a big fan of the Feminist DIR because even if they disagree with you, they do not report you to Staff, like they do in the Judaism DIR.

So I'm a religious extremist? Jay? Levite? RabbiO? etc... I guess we're all religious extremists.

Avi, I seem to recall you saying that reform Jews are generally more intelligent than the Orthodox Jews because they have a more open-mind and are more willing to accept change. With all your great intelligence Avi, can you please explain to me how asking of someone to at least do a bit of homework/research before coming to ask the most basic of questions has anything to do with the Judaism DIR, religious extremists, or anything that even comes close? Seems to me that this post of yours is quite representative of your thread.

An in depth timeline is the most basic question? Haha that's insanity. "I'm interested in Judaism now, better whip up a timeline of all history related to Israel and Gaza, a situation so politically complicated most people don't even pay attention anymore."

I hate arrogance so much. It's going to kill us.

I hate to admit it but I don't know anything about the history of the area outside of myth and modern events. As a born / raised Jew all I learned in Hebrew school was about how the land was ours and so we got it back, and now the evil Jew hating Arabs want to kill us. (Though I'd like to point out my family itself was never this way, in their defense). Now that I'm an adult and we had this latest conflict, I'd really like to know the whole story. Why did Jews ever leave and end up being more common in Europe, for example? I'd like the whole story (with sources please) but it's so unrelated to my focus that I can't go off on a researching crusade. Any help would be appreciated.
This sounds like a simple enough request, but the reality is that it cannot be covered in a simple forum setup. The history of the Jews is probably one of the most fascinating of any nation the world has known and there are literally mountains of information available to educate yourself with. How does one encapsulate a 3000 year history into a couple of sentences?

Would you mind supplying us with an in-depth timeline - the whole story (with sources please) - of our impending doom? I'd do it myself, but it's so unrelated to my focus that I can't go off on a researching crusade.

Thanks.

Well that's why I was just hoping for links and images, not asking people to write an essay. From what I can tell the Jewish members here are swimming in valid and intelligent sources that one is lucky enough to stumble upon sometimes when feeling around in the dark. I guess that's not as exciting as pulling rank and making yourself feel bigger. Then again, what is?

Actually, when I wonder about anything, the first thing I do is look it up on Google. You'd be surprised how much useful information and book recommendations you'd find, if only you took the time to look.

14th post. Apparently not detailed enough.

Don't feed the troll dantech.

Hey Flankie, even though your posts are generally weak, with little insight and lacking vision, I do not insult you by calling you a troll....please show respect or I will report you.
