I have two takes. As a common sense person I find it ridiculous. As a capitalist, if someone will pay for it then what business is it of mine. It is not art in my opinion.

Because your post sounded cranky, of course.
My post doesn't "sound" anything. You are imagining something that was never there.
I didn't dispute the facts. I disagreed with the conclusions you drew from them.
Based on What? You don't seem to even know.
I have no mindless need to fight. Nor do I have any mindless need to agree with you when in fact I don't.
Then, based on what? Because I am not seeing anything coming from you but a blind rejection and assertions about my feelings that you have no way of possibly ascertaining. And all this just because you don't want to accept the fact that this story was not news in any way shape or form. It was just petty pointing and snickering, by a gigantic media corporation that proclaims itself to be reporting the news.

So why are you trying to blindly defend this idiocy? Do you think this is a good thing for our culture or society to be engaging in?

Because I've already explained to you that I don't think it's idiocy when seen in its particular context. Rather it's a kind of game that appeals to some and not to others.

And believe me, you did indeed sound cranky. You still do, snappy and demanding to be right.

Do you think pointing out the fat kid in the schoolyard and snickering about it is a fun, harmless game? Do you think it’s “news” to anyone that some kids are fat? Because this is just another version of that. Being perpetrated by a huge media conglomerate. By a bunch of them, in fact. And they are doing it so regularly and without any consequence that people like you just think it’s a fun, harmless game.

Are you saying that to disagree with you is to point out the fat kid in the schoolyard and snicker?

Then again I disagree with you. If you post a view on a debate board, then little is more natural than that you'll find yourself in a debate. Ain't rocket science.
