I've Been Warning Y'all....Many Low Skill Jobs Will Soon Disappear

Well, I was 7 in 1960. The novels and magazines of the time were all about space exploration; biological evolution; and a political world that mirrored the 20th Century rivalries.
Asimov's, and others', robots never got off the ground.

And, Sci Fi turned into today's Fantasy. Even the good Sci Fi being written today such as Alternative histories or good old fashioned "Space opera" type books, have more elements of fantasy than science.
However - the non human "robot world" has been predicted since the earliest sci fi up to the latest movie thrillers.
It ain't happening.

Or "2001-A Space Odyssey"
A trippy art movie based on a hard core sci fi novel written in 1968.

When I was 15 in 1968, 50 years previous was WWI, which was ancient, ancient history to me in 1968.
Today - 50 years ago for a 15 year old is the Vietnam War; the Love generation; and LBJ.
It boggles my mind.

Then again - the parallels are eerie. WWI was the stupidest most useless war mankind has ever fought in terms of the cost in human lives.
And, the generation of the sixties has to be the stupidest, most useless generation mankind has ever produced in terms of the cost of producing a world where Leftist Victimhood is revered.

At least the 60s (& 70s) brought loud, strong & non-partisan resistance to war.
In that sense, we're better than newer generations who think war is meh.
But we did have the draft & far greater death to motivate us.

What? Me worry?

Not to put too fine a point on it but I believe most of the Viet Nam war protesters couldn't care less about the war or the people of Viet Nam, they were, imo, more incensed at the government's intransigent position when it came to sending us to participate in such a fiasco.

We were indeed more concerned about our own lives & liberty.
Ours were the "death" I referred to.
But secondarily, it was a tragedy that so many others died too.

Back to the topic, I expect that humans will be replaced by drones & androids.
I hope this doesn't make war more palatable to the hawks, both pols & voters.

It is happening.
But because of the curse of AI it's happening silently.
The field of AI consistently reaches milestones set for it.
And it's advanced much further than you probably think.
The gap between what we have the knowledge to produce and what we actually produce commercially is huge.
A self parking car is touted as a revolutionary advance in technology by car manufacturers, but in computer science it's a beginners project in your second or third year of college.

Good point. Even now war can be waged on a much more impersonal level then we could just imagine when I wore dog tags.

Aye, when I faced the draft, they were dying by the many thousands every year.
And government seemed quite unconcerned.
Example:
A friend who was a marine (an enthusiastic killer with 2 full tours of combat)
said that they had to scavenge equipment from dead commies, eg, packs.

No. The reason why robots can't take over the jobs of lawyers is... the robots would have too much of heart and emotions. We can't have robot lawyers have feelings for their clients now, can we?
The military has done much research in making robots which are cruel & destructive.
Lawyerbots would only require a little ehancement.

Nah. Robots are too honest. It's not logical to lie. What robot is going to say "no he didn't" when all the evidence says "yes he did?"

I don't think you win a court case with a rocket launcher attached to the right arm and a hyper-speed automatic on the left. I'm sure they'll work great for chopping down trees, but not for pleading a case... or maybe they would?... hmm...
