Well, I was 7 in 1960. The novels and magazines of the time were all about space exploration; biological evolution; and a political world that mirrored the 20th Century rivalries.
Asimov's, and others', robots never got off the ground.
And, Sci Fi turned into today's Fantasy. Even the good Sci Fi being written today such as Alternative histories or good old fashioned "Space opera" type books, have more elements of fantasy than science.
However - the non human "robot world" has been predicted since the earliest sci fi up to the latest movie thrillers.
It ain't happening.
