xmas trees are "socially normal"

Religious laws limiting ones use of electricity are factually "not socially normal" as a whole.


A hot plate was factually left on to follow a regional orthodox religious law or customs.

Without this particular religious practice, a dangerous hotplate would not have been left on overnight, and 7 children would not have died.

Who are you to decide what is "socially normal"?

Christmas trees are a fire hazard. If people didn't have Christmas trees then those children whom were killed by the fire caused by them wouldn't have died.

If one person decides to not get a Christmas tree because of this thread my work here is done.

The hot plate malfunctioned. That is what led to the fire.

Does that mean observing Shabbat will always lead to accidents ?, doesn't make any sense.

Nope that depends. If its a slow cooking meal there is usually nothing that could happen. What one shouldn't do is to leave hot oil unattended for any period of time.

Having been a professional cook before, I never had to use a dangerous method of cooking because religion told me I had too.

Have you ever had to wash your hands using a soap product because health ordinances required that? And if you splash soap in your eyes, it hurts. Therefore, health ordinances which dictate when you use soap are hazards.
