JW's Preach A Different Gospel

there is not only 'one' good news.

Jesus spoke of 'everlasting life' and the 'resurrection from the dead' both of which are VERY good news.
He also talked about how to 'love your neighbor' and 'forgiveness'.
Not only that, but he also encouraged all to 'seek first the kingdom' in their life.
He admonished his followers to 'put your sword in its place' and he spoke of 'paying Caesars things to Caesar but Gods things to God'

The Gospel of Good News included instructions on how to preach the kingdom message....taking it from 'door to door and marketplaces'

We know that Christ died and was resurrected, thats elementary.... but what about his many other teachings; Shouldn't the gospel we preach include all of them???
Yes, the whole of the gospel includes all of Jesus' teachings.

BUT...
When you go door to door, you cannot possibly preach the whole of the gospel.

You must preach what is of first importance, which is:

1 Cor. 15:3-4
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

You must follow the God given examples of Peter, Paul, Philip, and others in the NT, in the way they preached the gospel.

If you're not, then you show everyone that you think more highly of yourself than you do God.

Acts 2
22“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

36“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day
.

This is the gospel of first importance!

So what do you say when you meet someone who says they believe in Jesus, know about his resurrection and accept his sacrifice?

What then?

Btw, we take people through a study of the entire bible. We are not just preachers. We spend more then a year with one on one teaching... and the subjects covered are all those I mentioned and much more. Students must know the complete message of the gospel and that only happens by spending a lot of time with them and going through a weekly scheduled of one on one learning.

What then? Read the passage below. The answer is right there, plain as the nose on your face. I've posted "what then" at least four times to you personally. Do you ever read the Scriptures I post?

What did Peter tell the Jews after he'd told them about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus?

Acts 2
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

How did Jesus prioritize His teaching? Did He not say to FIRST make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? And SECOND, teach them to obey everything I have commanded you? Yes, no?

You do just the opposite. You indoctrinate into Watchtower teachings first, and then you baptize, a year or more later, into the JW organization. You won't even listen to the simplest of Jesus' directions.

Matthew 28
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

I grew up at one of Jehovah Witnesses. They have a new "bible" version out. I'm always been curious as to who were the translators of this bible.

Really?
That is all you got from my post?

Sad really.
This post?
The reality is that people throw around the word truth when when using the word truth is a bold faced lie.

Truth of the Bible my ***.

Declaring your opinions are truth and dissing those with a differing opinion has become the standard procedure to "spread gods word".

Any deity that approves of such bull **** is one I want absolutely nothing to do with.

First of all show me where I dissed those with differing opinions. And your post seems quite simple. You should show us the profoundness of it I think.

The gospel is not about Jesus coming again to destroy those not agreeing with him..........Or IS IT? I say it is not and you say "bull ****".

Jesus Christ resurrected is the good news. There is only one Jesus Christ and he was resurrected only once. I think if you could you would agree with those two things.

You know this because, God inspired Matthew, Mark, Luke John and perhaps Paul to write down what Jesus said 150 years after he had died, which influenced hundred of non-believers people to translate it the the modern english we have today?

Nope. It is because I opened the door and I listen. Revelation 3:20

Who is your post addressed to?

Do you doubt that Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit?

Why do you think the gospels and epistles were written 150 years after Jesus died?

Revelation was written by John who claimed he was inspired by God. So that scripture you listen to what God inspired John to write, and with what he wrote was valid enough to believe that it was from God. That sounds like an endless circle that makes my head hurt. I'm not even sure what John was referring to when he wrote 'knock on my door' in that chapter. I wish this was explained a lot more throughly.

A person must believe it for it to mean anything.

How do you 'believe' ? Why do you choose to 'believe' over everything else? What exactly are we believing? Are we believing that John was inspired? Are we believing that the translation was correct in english ? Are we believing that the chosen books were the right ones and nothing else was 'godly inspired? That even more confusing to me. I'm trying to understand it my entire life.

I think she means the whole scope of the gospel is good news. But what she does not understand is that Jesus' death, burial and resurrection is of first importance, and that must be our primary message.

I don't think JW's have a real sense of themselves being sinners, so they don't feel the need for a Savior as the rest of Christendom. When a person realizes that he is a sinner of the worst sort (we all are), then they will seek forgiveness. I don't think JW's have a real sense of the sacrifice Jesus made for them either, and because of that they never really feel the grief and sadness that comes with realizing and recognizing our sins (pride, lying, stealing, gluttony, adultry, sexual immorality, etc. Until one recognizes himself as a sinner, he doesn't need to be saved.

So they don't preach the DB&R of Jesus and that we are all sinners who need salvation. Instead they preach the kingdom was established in 1914. They just don't get it!

This is another topic, but I think that to know a person must ask. To ask a person must believe he will get an answer. To understand an answer a person must have a question relative to the answer. When these things happen over and over again conviction results. With all the wonderful things I have seen people be able to do, listening and understanding is child's play imo.

So a loving god works in this vague way? I also asked several question and my answers aren't always in line with other people, including Christians, so if someone gets a different answer than me I question why and how they got theres.

You are right. I have never heard my JW friend say he or anyone else is a sinner, he always refers to being "imperfect". From all my studying with them and of them, I think they believe (I hope they will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they all have me on ignore!) that Jesus' death, plus their death acquits them of sin. When they die and are resurrected they will have another chance to obey God's commandments.

*** bh p. 214 par. 3 Judgment Day—What Is It? *** What the Bible "REALLY" Teaches!
According to the apostle John’s vision, “scrolls were opened,” and “the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds.” Are these scrolls the record of people’s past deeds? No, the judgment will not focus on what people did before they died. How do we know that? The Bible says: “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.” (Romans 6:7) Those resurrected thus come to life with a clean slate, so to speak.

I think they believe that their true test of desiring to live under God's law will be shown in the resurrection when satan is bound for a 1,000 years, and not now while satan is loose and is ruler of the world. To live forever all those making it through Armageddon will "then" have to obey God's commandments, plus whatever else He says.

*** bh p. 214 par. 3 Judgment Day—What Is It? *** What the Bible "REALLY" Teaches!
The scrolls must therefore represent God’s further requirements. To live forever, both Armageddon survivors and resurrected ones will have to obey God’s commandments, including whatever new requirements Jehovah might reveal during the thousand years. Thus, individuals will be judged on the basis of what they do during Judgment Day. (This is strange, I've never heard of a criminal being judged for what he does during his trial!)

*** bh p. 215 par. 1 Judgment Day—What Is It? ***
What the Bible "REALLY" Teaches!
Judgment Day will give billions of people their first opportunity to learn about God’s will and to conform to it. This means that a large-scale educational work will take place.
