OH YES, WE HAVE NO TOMATOES.

The UK news is telling you that bad weather in Spain is the reason for the shortage and rationing of tomatoes (lettuce, cucumber etc).

This is total horse poo.

There is no shortage, Spain has had unseasonably warm weather and actually has a glut of salad stuff. European supermarkets have good supplies of Spanish fruit and veg at reasonable prices.

The problem is the difficulties in shipping and customs caused by Brexit.

But of course, britain has its head in the sand and is publishing lies to continue its denial.

Should America send some tomatoes to the UK?

Spain will soon close a commercial deal with Britain.
If they don't, Italy will do something about tomatoes supply.
There's always a solution.

Well do it then and stop msking promises you cannot keep

A deal will not remove customs

As far as I know, Italy overproduces tomatoes. A promise that can be kept.
Italy has never wanted to impose customs to Britain.

So why isn't Italy transporting salad foods to britain?

Same reason that spain isn't, the British customs.

The customs are British, not European

It would help

And I've never seen a cat get that close to tomatoes without pulling a face or heaving

Yes, I've never encountered a cat who liked tomatoes, although what surprised me was that the cat pulled the tomato off without knocking off the plate.

When my father died, I managed to keep growing (successfully) the ones he was growing in his small greenhouse. But not kept up.

As far as I know, Italy and UK concluded a deal.

The deal is aimed at British export of high end technology to italy and lowering carbon emissions

And Britain is selling it like it will solve all their problems.

It does nothing to ease trade barriers and customs duties imposed by britain on everyday items.

And tomatoes are still in short supply.

Italy and the UK signed a memorandum of understanding.
Absolutely NOTHING has changed or will change for any sort of commerce between the two countries.
Because Italy cannot sign a trade deal.
Insert some fascist ramblings about Soros, the Rothschilds etc.

So anyway, be sure to phone the UN if it gets dire.

The deal between Italy and Libya (which is not the EU)
The deal between Italy and France (aka Quirinal treaty).

Your turn.

As for voting for a Fascist party: there are more than one in Italy.

A memorandum of understanding (you seriously have not a scintiller of understanding what that means), so not a trade deal.

Italy–Libya relations - Wikipedia

The deal between Italy and France (aka Quirinal treaty).

Not a trade deal.
And why would they need one, they already have a free trade agreement.
There is no "Freeer trade agreement" to be made.

The Fascist claimed that Italy has enacted trade deals on its own without the EU.
The Fascist cannot provide evidence for it.
As usual the Fascists lie to further their disgusting goals and to sow disagreements between Democrats.

The Treaty between Libya and Italy, signed in 2008 was a 100% commercial deal.
https://www.iai.it/sites/default/files/pi_a_c_108.pdf
For instance, the Libyan State purchased public assets from the Italian State.
There was so much money involved.
So...yes...it was a trade deal.
As for the Quirinal Treaty, it is a memorandum that includes future commercial relations.

Secondly: Italy can sign any treaty with any country and doesn't need the authorization from Brussels.
Unless you want to tell me, @Flankerl that Brussels is a mafia institution that blackmails, intimidates and threatens the member states of the European Union.
Say it openly: Brussels institutions are mafia.

Only EU can legislate
In certain areas, the EU alone is able to pass laws. The role of member countries is limited to applying the law, unless the EU authorises them to adopt certain laws themselves. In these areas, the EU has what the treaties call exclusive competences:

There you have it. Trade and international agreements are areas in which the EU member states have transferred power to the EU.
