Lessons learned from the Clinton/Trump election

1. Polls are completely unreliable
2. The Republican party is very much alive
3. Trump is supported by more than just old, white, and bigoted men.
4. No political, military, or diplomatic experience is required to be president.
5. An unwavering will to become president does not guarantee the presidency.
6. Support from your political party is not required to become president.

What did YOU learn from this election?

I have another lesson.

1-Americans seems don't want to vote for woman to be president, yet

I don't know if it's first time Americans vote for president had immoral scandels, or not.

Trump's core group of supporters -- white males without a college education -- turned out in record numbers in key states. Clinton utterly lost that group -- in most cases, she received less support from them than Obama had. That might not be the only reason she lost, but I think it was a huge part of why she lost.

What many don't realize is that there's no glass ceiling for the presidency.
Hillary had much going for her....DNC covert support, media support, money, foreign support, money, & more money. Yet facing a guy who continually put his foot in his mouth & his hands on anything wearing a skirt, she fumbled her campaign, & was dogged by a history of corruption & lackluster performance.
She was merely the wrong woman.
I'd wager that Jill Stein could've beaten Trump.
And like Bernie, she could'a had my vote.

Wasn't Clinton supposed to be supported by every woman? I think the female group outnumbers the 'white males without a college education' group by a large margin. What happened to the females?

Pollsters have utterly ruined their credibility. No one will take them even remotely serious after this, and rightfully so.

I live in California, so I don't think I'll be affected too much, but this country's best hope is that Trump isn't as big an idiot as he seems to be and that it was all an act to get votes.

Frankly, Sunstone, I think the "only stupid people voted for Trump" was a meme that worked against the Democrats. It's incredibly insulting and people tend to not react well to being insulted. Given the endless stories about how the Republicans were in tatters, nearing outright civil war, it speaks volumes about how the "disciplined" DNC blew it. They should have smelled something burning when Bernie made such a splash. Even a large block of her own party has always hated Hillary.

When I learned this I was shocked. Yet, people going into privat federal government agencies have a boat load of background checks that can take years before having a permenang position of "residence" in that agency. I just volunteered at the Capitol and my background check was almost half a year before stepping in the door.

I also learned I can put me down as possible president elect. The whole thing is rediculous.

Interesting question. I don't know why, but Clinton didn't do as well with women as expected. For instance, she only captured about 51% of the women's vote in Florida according to one exit poll. In most other places, she was typically pulling in less than 55% of the woman's vote. Of course, those are exit polls, so one has to wonder how accurate they are.

There was definitely an enthusiasm gap between Trump and Clinton supporters, with Trump supporters being much more enthusiastic about their candidate than Clinton supporters.

To call attention to undegreed white males is media code for dumb racists (who are always white).
Notice how they never talk about uneducated black folk supporting Hillary....that would be wrong.

Based on what we've seen, I can tell you the poll is inaccurate.

Probably because there was so little to like about Hillary. The great problem for the Democrats is that Hillary was the best they could come up with. Surely this also squashes any hopes of Warren presidency.

At least Canadian were bold and went with a much, much younger candidate.

So far, Sunstone is talking about fringe groups. But for Clinton to lose, it means she lost the middle.

I learned that given the chance dumb and stupid can prevail in America, but only because of the electoral college. Obviously, the electoral college has got to go.

Hillary is such a despised and non-viable candidate that she couldn't even win a gimme election against a dim-witted game show host.
So despised and non-viable that more people voted for her than Trump.

Popular vote as of 1:30 pm EST:

Clinton: 59,606,258

Trump:..59,399,228

The problem with being a woman, in general, is that for every woman who likes you, there is at least one other one who hates your guts as much as any male misogynist. I find the whole idea of some kind of solidarity among women, as a demographic, to ring false.
