Leviticus and Homosexuality

I don't know if that rule applied to birds or not. I do recall reading about the Israelites eating quail. Perhaps one of our Jewish friends here can enlighten us.
Hey, when I read "Eating an animal which doesn’t both chew cud and has a divided hoof" I take "animal" to mean just that; all animals, chickens, crabs, cobras, and caterpillars alike.

I believe that the Leviticus condemnations of homosexual acts (not homosexuality as an orientation) are still in effect today. Part of the reason why I believe this is because similar condemnations of homosexual acts are found in the New Testament:

Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes. Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity.
(Romans 1:20-27 NAB)

Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.
(1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NAB)

Now that I look up the verses, I see that it is permissible to eat certain animals which do not have hooves or chew cud. Scaly fish and certain insects are explicitly permitted.

Leviticus 11:9 - Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams you may eat any that have fins and scales.

Leviticus 11:21-22 - There are, however, some flying insects that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground. Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.

Then you have this:

Leviticus 11:13-19 - These are the birds you are to regard as unclean and not eat because they are unclean: the eagle,[a] the vulture, the black vulture, the red kite, any kind of black kite, any kind of raven, the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk, the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl, the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey, the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

I'm guessing that any bird not mentioned in this list was okay to eat. Otherwise, you'd expect there to be a general ban on eating all birds instead of making this specific list.

It gets stupidly complicated.

Have you read any sections of the bible that made you go what???

Yes, but not because what I was reading sounded preposterous, but because I was uncertain as to what exactly was being said. I like clarity. If things aren't perfectly clear to me, I say, what?

You dont find this concerning?

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

If you are a slave, you should indeed serve your master honorably and with deep respect. I do not find this alarming at all. I see it as very good advice. I see it as mandatory.
