Fire >>> Let Me Go >>> Sweet Nothing

Sweet Nothing

spy with my little tired eye
Tiny as a firefly
A pebble that we picked up last July
Down deep inside your pocket
We almost forgot it
Does it ever miss Wicklow sometimes?
They said the end is coming
Everyone's up to something
I find myself running home to your sweet nothings

Outside, they're push and shoving
You're in the kitchen humming
All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing
On the way home
I wrote a poem
You say, "What a mind"
This happens all the time

'Cause they said the end is coming
Everyone's up to something
I find myself running home to your sweet nothings
Outside, they're push and shoving
You're in the kitchen humming
All that you ever wanted from me was nothing

Industry disruptors and soul deconstructors
And smooth-talking hucksters out glad-handing each other
And the voices that implore, "You should be doing more"
To you, I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it

They said the end is coming
Everyone's up to something
I find myself running home to your sweet nothings
Outside, they're push and shoving
You're in the kitchen humming
All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing

They said the end is coming (they said the end is coming)
Everyone's up to something (everyone's up to something)
I find myself running home to your sweet nothings
Outside, they're push and shoving (outside, they're push and shoving)
You're in the kitchen humming (you're in the kitchen humming)
All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing

No, we're members of the audience. :)

But sometimes, depending on the show, we can get in early and hear sound check.
You’re still a step above me. I’m just a guy enjoying their canned music.

I worked my way through a few pages here to see if this one was already posted but didn’t see it. Musically it leaves something to be desired but I still like it.

Not a step above. We're hanging out for a long time in the venue. It's pretty ridiculous. You have to be a big fan to do that. The facilities aren't open until after doors open. My friend can go back stage to use the bathroom, and often he'll come back with food from the green-room to share. But, we can't go back there, It's kind of rough. Not super fun sometimes.

Often Adam can only bring in 2 or 3 people. When we're hanging out with him, it's a small group. Out of necessity. My wife gets priority. Often, I'm stuck in line with Gen-Pop ( general population ) for hours and hours. So I'm that guy, sitting in line, solo, on my phone. People know me, they know I'm a friend of a friend of the band. But that doesn't mean much. In fact it can get awkward. My friends are inside, and I'm not. Once I get through security, I'm walking past all of those people who were in line next to me, up the front where my wife and friends are holding my spot.

I love that song. It certainly belongs in the collection. Thank you. For some reason it reminds me of this one. Maybe it's because I had a friend in High School who sang both of them very well. I can hear her doing it right now, actually. Bethany. We don't stay in touch, but, she's married, successful career, has a couple of kids. Her dad is neat. One of the first "Joy-ologists".

My favourite atheist love song.

Here's mine. This is from a series of free concerts streamed during the lockdown.

"... God never listens to what I say. You never get a refund if you over pray ... "

Sun & Moon - Michael Frant and Spearhead

You know I love you every day and night
Just like the sun and moon come round and
Oh way oh, oh way oh way oh
You know I love you every day and night
Just like the sun and moon come back around
Come back around
You know I love you every day and night
Just like the sun and moon

I'm not worried about yesterday
Today, or about tomorrow
When I hold you in my arms
I feel the healin' of my sorrows
Just fall away like dry leaves turn to petals in the spring
The magic that you bring unlocks that thing inside of me
My baby
