Macho men on the decline

Kuzcotopia

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.
Studies indicate that men's testosterone levels have declined by about 50 percent since the 1950s. In other words, your grandfather probably had twice the testosterone you have!

Nice article. I especially like this sentence:

"Many studies suggest that testosterone doesn't have to decline for men who stay in shape and live robust lifestyles - like those offered in many military jobs, for example."

Basically an infomercial.

Those macho jerks are overrated anyway. Too much testosterone can completely ruin a guy. Don't get me wrong, testosterone is a wonderful thing, it powers men's sex drives and fuels their dominance, but too much of it can be the difference between the caring, nurturing, understanding sweetheart and the overbearing, insensitive, careless musslehead.

How ironic.

Hopefully this observation will be appropriate enough for this thread. I don't have a TV, over 10 years now, and I am so glad !
Back on track ! I have observed on TV(when visiting family)that there are adverts where the male participants are impersonating lap dancers ! They gyrate around an imaginary pole and they look ridiculous, dressed in tight fitting cropped jeans and wearing stilletos. Imagine the impression on young and developing brains ? Premier League footballers are another example of the attack on the male population, they appear to spend more time in hair saloons than on the training ground ! Add to that the amazing variety of colored football boots. Finally there was a scene between two young men(half naked and in bed) playing the parts of lovers - it was a couple of hours before the watershed. It was either Corronation St or Emmerdale.
I hope this fits snugly into the thread, I just wanted to add another angle as to why macho men are on the decline.

The downside of too much testosterone is cancer, as also with women who produce too much estrogen, the doctor told me that my high level could have contributed to my prostate cancer.:(

That can be good, it will help to keep you young, yea yea.

Behavior and obesity both heavily affect testosterone. Obese men have lower test, and the feminization of men by society also cause low levels.

Losing weight and changing your mentality can keep those test levels high and strong. Throw in weight training and meditation and you're practically a barbarian chieftain

And let's not forget hair loss. Less testosterone = less baldness.

Good, less annoying people in the world.
We have minds that can deal with the possible issues of decreasing testosterone, that's barely problematic as far as I'm concerned.

If only stupidity was on such a large decline as well.

What is wrong with those men who have half the testosterone of their grandfather?

Offices and desk jobs I'd say rather than manual labour.

Also there might be oestrogen (or similar) in food/water supply from contraceptive pills, and plastic containers.

And let's not forget hair loss. Less testosterone = less baldness.

I started going bald when I was at high school so I must have the testosterone of a silverback gorilla.

Who wants a fight then? :handfist:

Lol a lot of twaddle to sell the "manly" idea of joining the army.

Also according to the "article" and how it's worded it seemed like it was suggesting at the end to boost one's testosterone by eating a steak and doing push ups. Is that like a thing? Because by that logic every single Australian (male AND female) that goes to the gym must be upping their testosterone!

Fair enough so. I don't see any particular problem with this. I have no idea what my own personal testosterone levels are :)
