Magic isn't real, "supernatural" isn't a good term for religion

..There were councils held to 'decide' which of the contradictory versions should be 'official.'

In one breath some people say the Bible's been edited and tidied up over the centuries to make it look good, then in their next breath they say it's still full of contradictions!
Wish they'd make up their minds..;)

Now, check. Does it look good? It is the biggest factor why people are turning away from it. The contradictions have not been removed even after 1,600 years of editing. It needs an overhaul. :)

That map is wrong, it shows Australia is Christian, when in fact I think it is now majority atheists or at least religion "I dont care" status. On almost every corner where a church once stood there is now a MacDonalds and many old stone country churches are now just residential houses. Its taken almost to a century to get rid of these anachronistic symbols of the past. The new refugee Muslims keep wanting to put up Mosques but the locals always rightfully object, they should leave behind the concepts they have escaped from and become part of the benevolent society that now shelters them. We are a progressive not regressive country.

By the way when you look at the map do you notice the closer to the equator you get the crazier things are.

Cheers

I was a teenager and lived through the 1960's and could easily sit down today 50 years later and write a book called "Pop music of the Sizzling 60's".
But if I made bits of it up, people would quickly say "HEY, that's not true, we lived through the 60's too, and you're making things up!"
But they could never say that because I'd stick only to TRUE facts throughout the book!

Likewise, when the gospels were written after Jesus's death, NOBODY, not a single person, ever came forward to say "Hey that's not true, I was there!"
That's why we know can take the gospels as the gospel truth..:)

If you published a book about a subject millions of people know about you had best be accurate.
If you were the president of the Ernie fan club you fake almost everything about his life. Write about how he invented the electric guitar and taught Ringo to play drums.Especially if the only copies are laboriously copied out by hand on hand made paper. Then you only show them to the gullible and uninformed people you think might want to join your club for a small fee. Ernie's death from playing music in the shower becomes a transformation, even if he actually died from food poisoning after dumpster diving.

If nearly nobody knows or cares about your biography or the subject it is unlikely that the people who do know it's invented will be bothered much. Heck, even other fan clubs with somewhat different biographies won't. Because they don't want too much investigation while the truth is still available either.
A century from now might be a whole different time.

You mean the Bible mate? Which bit of this is a turd?-
"Love one another, feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the destitute, tend the sick, visit the prisoners, look after the poor"-Jesus of Nazareth (Mark 12:30, John 13:34, Matt 25: 37-40)

Just the parts about god and jesus.

Hold it right there Jack, Christianity was never about making money from it, or for control; that's just another conspiracy theory that can be easily shot down by these two full metal-jacketted verses..:)-
"Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit...be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, not lording it over those entrusted to you" (2 Cor 2:17,1 Peter 5:2-3)

How would anybody know even a few years later, much less you? Maybe Christianity was despised at the time, which it was, because the leaders were already corrupt.

I'm not sure why you think the ancient Christians were noticeably different from the modern ones, like the Pope, Billy Graham, and Sarah Palin etc etc

ObL wasn't in it for money and power. He was already a rich Sunni in Saudi Arabia.

So let's go back to your claim that Christianity was not known to be fiction by the locals.

What kind of reception is Jesus reported getting in His hometown?
