Yes, it's incredibly sad. Yet we still have homophobia on this forum, and obviously, in the world. As another poster said, we don't know for sure the motives here ... yet, but one wonders how many hate filled bigots out there are secretly cheering this story.

I just have to point out that those comments are just fuel to more bigotry.

They are aimed at targeting many people that have have no hate, nor homophobia, but what is perceived by one's own self.

Ugh....this is why I avoid any discussions about
gun regulation when current events raise passions.
I have seen some gun owners, not all but far too many, where my bit of clear hyperbole was not that far from reality. I do not include you in that list since it seems that you would support some reasonable gun control.

Any reasonable gun control needs to be national since a strong gun control state near a weak one only allows criminals easy access to guns in the strong gun control state leaving its law abiding citizens defenseless.

Are you sure about that claim? Many that follow a flawed religion blame their religious beliefs on their homophobia. And those that try to deny its existence are often victims of it.

More than sure. Each individual has to answer for their own actions. But no religion teaches a person to shoot innocent people, nor to have hate for another.

This is not a very good answer. One does not have to shoot gays or even endorse it to have homophobia. Today almost all homophobia is rooted in religion that teaches that being homosexual or performing homosexual acts is a sin. If one's religion teaches that then it is a rather questionable religion.

You are imputing your own concepts of God given Law on to others that do not think that way and as such putting your fuel on the fire.

Shooting innocent peoples has no foundation in God given Faiths. Hate for others has no foundation in God given Faiths.

Mr Voepel, a Donald Trump supporter whose social media pages show him sporting a MAGA hat, previously courted controversy with his response to the Capitol riot.

Three days after the insurrection that left five people dead and dozens of police officers injured, the GOP lawmaker likened the rioters to American Revolutionaries.

“This is Lexington and Concord. First shots fired against tyranny,” he said in an interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune. “Tyranny will follow in the aftermath of the Biden swear-in on January 20th.”

And you have apparently confirmed your own homophobia. My concept of God has very little to do with it. Usually I use the version of god of those I am debating against.

Probably. There is a link to the article confirming the behavior of the grandfather:

I nipped in the bud with my snark.
You might want to borrow my power meme.

And to get back to the topic at hand. The picture of Voepel with the MCGA hat on (please note that is not a spelling error) is a bit misleading. That was taken in 2017 at the time of Trump's inauguration. He may have supported the rioters, but he was not photographed wearing that hat while doing so.

A dangerous lunatic, eh.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Get rid of the F-ing GUNS, for Christ's sake!

I'm afraid my sympathy for these events in the USA is exhausted. The remedy is obvious. I'm sorry, but there we are.
No. The remedy is proper recognition of mentally ill people.
