I must be more up on current events.
BBC had a video.
The Soviet Union pretty much hastened its own demise by the attempted coup back in 1991, which brought Gorbachev down and accelerated the collapse. That's when Yeltsin came in.
You bet they can do!
The people of Ukraine put Zelenski as their leader, so far I haven't heard anybody from Ukraine blaming him for anything. So who do you think I should listen to in connection with this war....you or the people of Ukraine?
I'll look for it. I don't know the context, what it means, or even if it's real. Maybe it was someone's idea of a joke - or maybe psychological warfare.
Let's hope for some more of that action....soon.
But with a Gorbachev type at the helm.
And Putin in his bunker ending it all.
I suppose anything is possible. It seems that's the only way this will end.
I wonder what would happen if they offered Putin some sort of amnesty or immunity from prosecution if he stepped down now, no questions asked. He could be Gorbachev's next door neighbor.

This video says there are many people in the southern hemisphere that view US as a provocateur in this current Russian-Ukraine war. The scholar in the included video argues that NATO has threatened Russia by potentially placing nukes there, and he also says that US CIA has promoted right wing candidates in Ukraine thus interfering with its politics. These are seen as provocations which have triggered some anxiety in Russia. He compares NATO's actions to those of the USSR when it attempted to place nukes in Cuba in the 60's. He says that there was a diplomatic way to handle this situation but that "The West was not interested in a diplomatic solution" and also worries that the USA with our enormous military will also stoke tensions in the Far East.
He condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but he does think the US and NATO helped to cause the situation.
I think he makes an argument though perhaps there are counter perspectives to consider.
Here is a useful counter perspective. Putin wants to go back to the days of the Soviet Union or the USSR, where Russia was safer because of a large land buffer in Eastern Europe. The NATO allies had introduced Poland into the fold and Ukraine was next. This would create a threat on the Russian border. The USSR stood for the United Soviet Socialist Republic. Capitalism in Russian is corrupt and control by monopoly oligarchs. While the old way of the USSR, seems more honest and stable to Putin.
Biden and the Democrats have an agenda in the USA, that is also a path toward Socialism; Democratic Socialist Republic of America; DSRA. Putin and Biden are both heading in the same political direction; Socialism. I would guess they are allies, since Biden did not do anything to stop this. Obama allowed Crimea to be taken as part of early agreements. Biden is making it easy, since both share the same political end game. Ukraine is more about free elections and capitalism, which is not the way of the Left or of Putin. Biden and Putin will not help Ukraine since neither like their politics.
One wild card, that could have closed the deal of this Socialist alliance, but was averted, was the huge Democrat Party spending plan, for large a tax payers giveaway, leading to America Socialism. If this had happened this would have create huge inflation, to where big Government would have had to step in and take over things common to all socialist countries.
Luckily, Manchin and others got in the way and now all we have a moderately large inflation. The bigger plan failed, so Stage 2 or 3, is floundering. This had an impact of the time table.
Imagine if the waste of the BBB had been approved, along with the New Green, "like money" Deal. The inflation rate would have soared, gases would be outlawed and China may have been asked to call in the US National debt, as Russia invaded. China is also Socialist. World wide Socialism would have been around the corner. But the early scams of phase 1, were averted and the new overall plan is not going as well as hoped. There is a pause to regroup.

Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

There was someone on youtube who said that, too. I tend to believe that is the case, however he could simply be a maniac or be the puppet of others. What makes me think you are correct about that point is his fluent ability to persuade people of things, but he could still just be absolutely crazy.

The two parties are both heavily influenced by the same monopolies. They are somewhat independent, but they pursue the dollars. Whenever anyone gets to thinking about real financial reform they are immediately put into their place by the majority or minority whips. Its been this way almost completely for the entire history of the nation. It was this way very, very early on. Socialism has less than .05% chance of ever happening. I think what could happen is the bread and circuses dependency (if we all become terribly poor) but not socialism. As once happened in Rome its possible that we could all become so destitute (due to the monopolies) that we are dependent upon direct handouts to eat. Since its happened before its likely one of our possible endings.

I think they have government supplied medicine but have general capitalism when it comes to food and production. Their homeless are somewhat like our homeless and can starve or freeze or die in the open. One difference is that banks are directly controlled by their government, unlike our banks which are controlled by the Fed.
China is still recovering from two world wars and its golden revolution in which people were starved to the point of humiliation. These folks are resilient and are likely in future to produce champions of freedom of speech and spiritual qualities, but right now they are mostly struggling to become something and don't know what they will become. I think they have lost a lot of their culture, so they are somewhat like us in that sense of not having a home culture. They have settled with know knowing what they are and with trying to define themselves, because they have been changed so much that they do not fit with their ancestors way of life. They live in a new way, but it probably feels like traveling down a long dark tunnel. They don't know if they will be communist, capitalist or what. Meanwhile government keeps going through fads over there.

Have I talked of what this war will result in? I am no prophet. It is my guess that Putin is not going to stop without getting what he wants. That will be too costly for him. Sanctions or NATO arms not withstanding.
In Syria there are many players. Russia, Turkey, IS, Hamas, US, Assad, Kurds, Israel; so it will carry on.
If war continues in Ukraine like in Syria, then it does not bode well for it. Is that what NATO wants?
Here's a video by a Polish girl who lives near the border with Ukraine, and she's recounting all of the trouble that has come upon all these people fleeing from Russian bombs and how Polish people are doing their best to help feed and support them.
I wonder what country you live in.
It's certainly not Ameristan, where everyone believes
our leaders are corrupt ********. The only differences
lie in who despises which leaders.
Well, I think another difference is that many/ most Americans distrust our leaders when it comes to their dealings with us personally, but still think we're the good guys when it comes to dealing with the rest of the world (an attitude that I believe is mostly born of indifference).

I can understand what NATO wants. Just like they want Russian troops out of Ukraine, Russia wants NATO out of Ukraine. I do not know what will finally happen. But I see Ukraine is paying high price for what NATO and Russia want.
