Instead of saying "I am angry" ... try saying "I am aware that there is anger in me." :)

You Are Not Your Thoughts and Feelings, and They Don’t Have to Bring You Down
Using Mindfulness to Overcome Anxiety and Depression
But I HIGHLY rercommend the book itself!
Phew! I would say dump all that.

"Don’t meditate to fix yourself, to heal yourself, to improve yourself, to redeem yourself; rather, do it as an act of love, of deep warm friendship to yourself. In this way there is no longer any need for the subtle aggression of self-improvement, for the endless guilt of not doing enough. It offers the possibility of an end to the ceaseless round of trying so hard that wraps so many people’s lives in a knot. Instead there is now meditation as an act of love. How endlessly delightful and encouraging."

~ Bob Sharples, from Meditation: Calming the MindBooks

Perhaps that willing oneself to meditate is futile and useless.

No it isn't. It's a bit like doing regular physical exercise to get fit, some effort and application is required. Obviously meditation is about developing the mind rather than the body, but there are some similarities.

Yes, and the mind and body clearly influence each other in both directions in direct response to their being exercised.

Of course results vary, but futile? Futile is something completely pointless, like adding the word 'useless' to 'futile' :)

Calming the MindBooks? I wonder why MindBooks are in need of calming. Inquiring minds want to know.
Is meditation about making your mind go blank?

I used 2 think so!

:)
Notta. It's all about focus...
I'm afraid I'm rather too far gone for guidance. Why are sites like this so..... boring....

Is meditation about making your mind go blank?
I still think so but with a rider - the blank is in preparation for focused deep and unbiased contemplation on some problem which one is trying to understand - like when you are answering a question in an examination.
Why are sites like this so..... boring....
Because they may be trying to say something which we do not consider as the truth. For example, the discussion about existence of God, Free Will, judgment, deliverance, etc. for an atheist. The person has already arrived at his/her considered conclusion.

Get me off of this planet
Don't be a heroic, or a boyscout or a Calvinist.

What is often called meditation is actually an ego trip about self improvement, discipline or obedience.

Bah...

Peoples patheticism I disgust in... People disregard, ignore the simplicity of the facts of nature.. Other ideology is in fact egotistic.

"Meditation" is indeed trying to meet an equilibrium in one's self...

Balancing your energy and emotions... The human brain, don't knock it.

Hypocritical lecturing is not my thing.... However, I will go on... Egotistical preaching is just dumb-nation of the humanbeing

We are complex... Be humble at best... Psychotic at wurst.... Just manage your chi...

I'm disgusted in the wests denying us such excellent teachings... Sadism, fledgellation on a grand scale is all I have collected.

If you must... find a quiet or serene place to you...

Learn to manage your breathing, oxygen is mystical stuff... In... count to 3... exhale through the nose... Learn to manage the very essence and nectar's of life...

Find your pulse.. control it... I leave you to discover the soul from there...

Going on.. It is generated by the Brain, don't knock it... The nervous system indeed creates to the soul... This is our first interface with reality.

Stop the press.. Don't be pathetic, weak, coy or a coward.. The facts of nature are what we are in denial about.... Humiliation, shame is built into us through our simian cousine.

Behold the animal Kingdom... Something disrespected... Lions and other beast have more Chi than Men. Perhaps you would understand the majesty of such a thing once confronted by it... Beasts that have more chi than Men.

I mastered my Chi at a very young age... I was said to be something of a prodigy.

The patheticism is what I can barely stomach any longer... You, we, are all being cheated. There is a God in this realm or the next dimension, or somewhere out there in the Universe, there is a being entitled to be called God.

Bah... Melodrama... The truth is intelligent design. The Gods battled our extinction.

They want no pity, glory or gold... It is something of disgust to me.

The dishonor enrages me. Denied Glory. They will have it.

Like in Watchmen with Dr.Manhatten... What I saw was a nervous system... You would understand evolution.
