I will never understood why you guys like that movie...yuck.

What Italy really is :)

The Godfather is only partly about Italy, but it's mainly about America. It's been 50 years, so perhaps it hasn't aged well - and it's also so well-known and woven into the culture, as it's been parodied and quoted so many times.

Most films I've seen about Italy tend to be set during World War 2. I've never been there, although I've known quite a few people who have. They say the drivers are kind of crazy over there.

Mate the Kangaroos are always up for a fight. Don’t mess with them!
Ironically the giant scary spiders aren’t what you need to be wary of. They bite but they won’t kill you. The tiny ones that hide in your shoes will though! ;)

I figure if I ever visit Australia, I'm worried that if I venture too far deep into remote areas, I'll encounter something like this:

Filmed on location.

Looks like Northern Territory to me

(That’s a state up north known for its vast deserts)

I've been a desert rat most of my life, although our desert has guys like this going around:

I was thinking if I should include that, but instead I kangaroos amd those spiders on growth hormones in mind, lol.
Maggie's are smart. If you feed them, they don't swoop you.

Snakes are less fun. Ticks. Sharks. Crocs. Spiders. Kangaroos are really only a problem if you're driving (did $9000 damage to my brother in law's car two weeks ago by jumping straight into the side of a car travelling at 80 KMs)

According to this site (Filming Locations for Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), in New South Wales, Australia..) it was filmed in Silverton, New South Wales.

Most of our country is desert, really. The coastal areas have most of the people. The rest is more or less red desert.

New South Wales is a large state (1.15 the size of Texas), and borders the Northern Territory on the west edge (along with South Australia). Silverton is as far west as you can get without leaving NSW.

Of course, 'large state' is relative. Western Australia absolutely dwarves it.

Ahh Silverton. I think I’ve actually been there once. Or near it possibly.
My dad was a retired truck driver so I’ve been a few places as a result of his need to “go caravanning.” Which meant stopping all over the place to visit old mates from yesteryear lol
A lot of Oz is desert tbh.

Huh I didn’t know NSW was that big.

I suppose to my eyes it’s always appeared relatively small.
(I’m a Queenslander so you can imagine the comparison my brain usually makes lol.)

I didn't know it was bigger than Texas. And it seems that Western Australia is even larger than Alaska.

But then again, Australia only has 7 states, while the U.S. has 57 states.

Yes. I suppose America is a large country. But Australia, actually, is roughly the same size as a country. I sometimes forget that too lol
But we don’t have to remember as many states ;)

Try looking from a Victorians perspective...lol

We're a tiny little state...but still about as big as the entire United Kingdom!

Actually, we only have 50. The "57 states" remark was just a joke.

I learned all the states and their capitals when I was about 5 or 6, thanks to my dad's Rand McNally Road Atlas.

57?

Oh, you're including territories, right? In that case we have 9.
(Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory are not states)

But yep, basically. And Western Australia is bloody enormous. Larger than Alaska and Texas combined.

It's easier to learn all European countries and capitals. They have all different shapes and are much less. ;)

Actually I saw that in American movies. in most houses, room locks (bedroom locks in particular) don't have those locks with the key...
Can’t comment one way or the other.
Don’t live in the states.
My cousin’s house in California, if I recall, did have those locks.
But that’s only one house so
Most bathroom and bedroom doors have a button on the knob to lock it from the inside for privacy's sake, and a pinhole in the outside knob to insert a pin to unlock it incase you've locked yourself out.

I had no idea this was a unique American thing?
