You know what makes me slightly angry?
That it takes much less time to go on foot, on a bicycle and on bus. In Rome and in the other big cities there is bus, tramway, subway. And yet they have to use the car and spend 1 hour to find a parking lot and 2 hours to manoeuvre.
They are geniuses, my fellow Italians. LOL

Another genius. Ferrari stuck in a very narrow street in the historical center in Rome.

Most bathroom and bedroom doors have a button on the knob to lock it from the inside for privacy's sake, and a pinhole in the outside knob to insert a pin to unlock it incase you've locked yourself out.

I had no idea this was a unique American thing?
Hmm interesting
I mean my house has locks on all the bathroom doors. But they’re kind of “built in” to the knob, if that makes sense?

It does kind of differ house to house though. I think some have locks that you can unlock with a key. It just sort of depends. And you can have your own installed if you’re not satisfied, I suppose

They look like some pretty narrow streets, although everyone seems to have rather small cars. Around here, every other vehicle on the road is a pick-up truck, although most places usually have parking lots. Our public transportation system leaves much to be desired, so most people drive. It's even the same for inter-city and interstate travel. I'm not a fan of flying, so if I have time to drive, I'll drive. Bus and train service is rather poor.

Try looking from a Victorians perspective...lol

We're a tiny little state...but still about as big as the entire United Kingdom!
Lol fair enough.
I guess I don’t really think about the size of our country in relation to other countries.
Though I suppose being able to fly to Fiji or even New Zealand from my state in less time it takes to fly to Western Australia did put things into perspective for me.

Am I the only one that finds it slightly amusing that I don’t need my passport to travel such a distance (since it’s obviously domestic) but need to for a far shorter flight? Lol

I'm still confused about this key. Do you mean the pinhole? Any object that will fit into it will "pop" the lock. What specifically is an American thing?

So many towns are Medieval, so they have narrow streets. I grew up in one of those towns, with those narrow streets. The modern part of the city has wide streets, though. Fortunately I had a bicycle and then the scooter...

I've noticed that it varies. Most houses have a button on bathroom and bedroom doors, or some might have a way for the doorknob itself to lock. It's mainly a "privacy lock," just to prevent accidental entry but relatively easy for emergency entry if needed. Some people might have a doorknob with a key they can put on themselves. I suppose if someone wanted to get real fancy, they could install a key card system or a keypad, with alarms to prevent unauthorized entry to the bathroom.

In fact, I think they have something like that at some fast-food restaurants on their restroom doors. I suppose gas stations might do it, too. Or they just have a key.

No it doesn’t have any sort of key hole to them. It’s just something you turn to lock and that’s it. On the outside there’s nothing to “pick” really

It’s actually a very basic design since my house was originally what we here call “housing commission.”
Basically our version of public housing, rather than something you have built or buy.

I love those doors with doorknob. They look very futuristic. You can find those only in universities, offices etc.. Not in houses.

Maybe one of those old-fashioned locks:

I've seen them on older houses, although the locks were so old that they didn't really work.

Doesn't sound that much different than ours. The pinhole is just for emergencies or if you've accidentally locked yourself out. Usually a toothpick or wire will do. It's not like a specific key goes to a specific lock, although those do exist, although I wouldn't say they're standard. I didn't know keyed bedrooms were viewed as an American thing.

To be honest?
I’ve always viewed keyed bedrooms as an old world British thing lol
They seem a little old fashioned these days

Dunno if it's uniquely American, but you'd generally only see that on bathroom doors here (if then). Not so often on bedroom doors.

Even funnier, because I find it hard to believe Western Australians are even on the same planet as the rest of us, much less in the same country.

:)

Ahh they’re not that bad.

Actually most of my fathers family is from Perth.
So maybe since I know them only as drunk family I’m more inclined to be lenient ;)

Guys...do you think this girl is masochistic? LOL

I was in the car...and two men yelled at me: "hey beautiful, pretty"...even if I was like that (with no makeup on)? I do love catcalling, but you men are phony...really.
