Men boxing women??- Int'l boxing organization starting transgender league over 'safety' concerns

International boxing organization starting transgender league over 'safety' concerns

Excerpt - Linked article said:
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman told The Telegraph in an interview published Thursday that the new divisions next year are to ensure that “the dangers of a man fighting a woman will never happen.”

“We will not allow — ever — a transgender born a man to fight a woman, who was born a woman,” he stated firmly.
Have we as a society lost all sanity in the name of "wokeness"? Sorry for not posting more; I cannot stop laughing even though this is not remotely funny, that we've come to this. From equality in woman participating in sport to, for all practical purposes, destroying female competitors?
Come on!

From what I've read, transgender females on HRT for awhile tend to have a strength and athleticism level that is between a cis male's and a cis female's. Probably not quite as great as a long time trans male's on HRT, though.

So the World Boxing Council hasn't allowed trans women to compete against cis women, and they're considering an entirely new category to avoid this. I'm not sure how this is tied to "wokeness"; discourse around trans people in society is bound to happen because we know they exist and have a valid identity.

This thread seems like an objection to a problem that hasn't happened to begin with (i.e., cis women being put at risk in boxing).

Non born females and males should have their own league. Compete with others equal to you.
I say equal because a transgender male or female isn't equal to their natural born male/females counter part.

Yes, sexual dimorphism is a real thing. People born male tend to have significantly different bodies than people born female. As a result it is very hard to have "equality" in some sports. The average transwoman can hit a lot harder and take a harder punch due to biology. I am all for the rights of trans people, but sports appears to be an area where the problems cannot be solved easily. Some sports, such as running, are easier to balance out than others. Contact sports like boxing may never be solved. Right now we cannot have people that were born male fighting women.

Let's not forget that it's embarrassing to get beat up by a girl.

What would be more embarrassing, beat up by born cis-woman, a trans woman or trans man? :p

It wouldn't be right if all three ganged up on you.

My mind might be in the wrong place, but I'd choose someone of my preferred gender to beat me up with the hopes that they end up feeling sorry for me, and that sympathy leads to them not cringing when I show them my Star Wars collection including my Matchbox Millennium Falcon.

Of course, that could also lead to further physical pain inflicted.

I'm not brave enough to find out. I almost came to blows with @ChristineM the other day over ownership of @Dan From Smithville but I quickly brokered a compromise when I realised I wasn't tough enough.

Say what you want, but keep in mind, if you're Jewish, you're part of a persecuted minority too, it seems, much like us trans people.

“Persecution” and minority-ness are irrelevant when it comes to males participating in women’s sports. Males dominating and beating down females, in the name of “inclusivity” and wokeness… is beyond pathetic, and disgraceful. It is ruining athletic experiences and opportunities for females, and in the eyes of many athletes- including myself- it is completely unacceptable.

Transgenders must be banned from women’s sports… all of them. They can compete in the everyone category (Men’s sports), or in their own division.

There are two different things going on here:

1. Whether transgender people should have their own portion of sports. I have no problem with it. Nothing to argue with me about there.

2. The slurs of transgender people being used by you and potentially the OP, which is why my second post in this thread addressed that. And if you can't see the way you are wording things as a slur, that's okay. But, since I'm not your mother, and it's not my job to install manners on people, I don't feel like expanding much from this.

It's about time people start to call out the reality that transgender people are simply not 100% real men or women at all from a physical standpoint.

Mentally is arguable, hence the drive to physically change, but certainly not physically on par with natural sexes. Sorry , but it's the hard fact of the matter.

I agree they should have a separate sports category all their own so it dosent create unfair advantages nor disadvantages for that matter.

I might change my mind if the NFL ever takes on a trans male that is a winner.

Until then , I'm in total agreement.

Even Caitlyn Jenner shares that assessment.
