Men Should Not Hit Women?

Mathematician

Reason, and reason again
Gentlemen don't hit ladies.

Any woman who hits a man in a circumstance that does not constitute self-defense is not a lady, however.

I will not hit someone of either sex unless they come at me with serious blows. At that point, it's their fault for running into my fists. I've actually had a friend admonish me for arguing that certain situations permit men to use violence as a measure of self-defense. The next week a drunk dope with a vagina kicked him in the nuts and he had to push her against the wall rather violently to make her stop. Lesson learned, heh.

I personally would never hit a woman. If a man feels the need to fight back, maybe he needs to examine his own insecurities. It takes character to walk away from fights, too.

Well, actually maybe I'd punch Sarah Palin....

Its amusing that women can beat up men and generally nothing happens but as soon as the roles reverse its worse than killing puppies.

There's a TV ad here in OZ that says "violence against women, Australia says no." However, where's anything said against violence against men? Damn sexist government funded advertising.

In general, i wouldn't hit a woman if she hits me, the same way i wouldn't generally hit a person who i think has less physical strength. To be honest i can't say that this rule is unbreakable though.

I think for example if a woman pushes, punches or kick me i wouldn't hit back. If she goes for it again i'll try to stop her without striking her. Other things provoke me much more though. If a woman slapped me i can't say i wouldn't slap her right back. And i don't think there is anything wrong with that. In principle if someone attacks they better know that i'll respond, but i believe its better to not respond. I can't always control myself though.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I dunno - as a woman, I think if I had the audacity (and low class) to slap my husband, I probably shouldn't be surprised if I get slapped back. The whole scenario is ridiculous, however. Neither of us can even imagine employing physical violence in our relationship.

Men shouldnt hit women, i just feel there is something repulsive about it, however with this kind of attitude men are i believe much more vulnerable to attack than women are. Firstly women are more likely to be believe about domestic violence then men, they are more likely to have it taken seriously and there are (i believe) far worse repercussions for men than women. Ive heard of stories of men being mobed when they have been known to strike women. when you hit a women its a big big deal, i have heard jokes about women beating up their husbands, some people consider it funny!

I think you can defend yourself without any need to strike back.

It depends. What if a woman came at you with a weapon? You'd risk being stabbed or being hit with a baseball bat just for supposedly being a gentleman?

Well, there is a limit for everything and you can bring up the worst possible situation so that you get Yes out of my mouth. Still, I don't think you need to hit back whom are weaker than you for the sake of defending yourself. You can just do it without hitting back.

I was just using extreme situations to make a point that the rule is breakable. I did say in my first post that generally i wouldn't hit a women for exactly the same reason you said, so i agree with your idea.

I just think its unfair to stain a person as not being a man in general for striking a woman back, as there are more than one situation where it might be understandable.

Is it a question ?
It means that I do not find any relevance to your comment and am asking you to present how "women are weaker than men" is relevant.
It seems to me that you just tossed out a random thought assuming everyone would make some kind of connection.
