Missouri Republicans vote 104-39 to reject open-carry amendment

Coming hot on the heels of rulings cracking down on the SCANDOLOUS dress coats worn by Congresswomen and the HIGHLY DANGEROUS drag shows, House Republicans just voted 104-39 to reject an amendment to state law that would prohibit minors from being able to open-carry a firearm on public land without adult supervision. Which currently, minors are not prohibited from openly carrying a firearm in public spaces, only owning one.

Man. Dragshows and Dresscoats kept me up enough at night (/s), but now some angry 12 year old with an AR-15? Eh, we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Lol, funny stuff. I was " open carrying" at 12. It's called hunting. Would you prefer the gun be concealed? To what purpose?

Tell me why a 17 year old boy going squirrel hunting in the mark twain national forest needs adult supervision?

I don't think either of you understand. Currently, there is nothing in Missouri law that prohibits a minor from carrying a weapon in public spaces. Not one thing. This amendment would have simply made that a requirement.

Tell me why they shouldn't.

All I see is "I hate guns and people shouldn't have them"

Again.... Tell me why a 17 year old boy going squirrel hunting in the mark twain national forest needs adult supervision?

Squirrel hunting?
Is that like a thing in America?

I mean we hunt Ibises here so I’m not judging or anything.
I’d imagine such a small fast target does improve your aim

Made what a requirement? It says public land. It doesn't say main street. Methinks the article is biased hogwash.

I always preferred to use a rifle and wait for the squirrel to sit still. It's a game of patience and accuracy.

How about a 15 year old carrying a 9mm handgun in a mall?

Context is everything and I am sure nuance isn't impossible in legislation.

15?? I think that's illegal.

"Open carry and concealed carry are legal in Missouri without a Concealed Carry Permit (CCP) for anyone 19 years or older who can legally possess a firearm (18 for members of the military or honorably discharged)."

I'm curious just how you get that from, and let me help you out here a bit, CHILDREN should be supervised by an adult when handling a DEADLY WEAPON.

Yea. It's always a good thing to check the laws to prevent a headache from the authorities.

I don't consider a 17 year old as a boy personally.

I'd say young adult at that age.
