I just saw Becoming Jane. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan, so I had to see this. I knew going in it would be a largely fictional account of Jane Austen's life, so I was entertained. It was beautifully filmed, and an overall decent period piece. It was very melancholy, though, and made me really appreciate the fact that I live in a time where I am not constrained by issues of money when it comes to marriage!

Live free, die hard.
Not bad for an action flick.
Oh, they improved the cliches too.
The classic badguy falling down an elevator shaft has been replaced by bad guy falling down an elevator shaft and a car falls on him, and explodes.

History of Violence

Good movie, but not the greatness many made it out to be. Cronenberg has done much better (see Dead Ringers).

The stars and director of The Apartment reteam for this risqué farce set in Paris. Billy Wilder's film is based on a Broadway musical, but omits the songs; nonetheless, an Oscar did go to André Previn for Best Score. Watch for the sailor with the radio -- it's James Caan in his film debut.

Fearless - damn good movie. Definitly worth checking out.

Dead Silence - another good movie, from the people who made the Saw movies. A chilling twist is also at the end.

I watched Brazil (Terry Gilliam) last night. Classic.

The Wind that Shakes the Barley (Ken Loach) is a great movie I saw recently. It's a story of a young man's (Cillian Murphy) participation in Republican paramilitary activities in Ireland's fight for independance. There is a theme of idealism vs. practicality running through the movie which I love. By the end the once united Irish brotherhood is split into fighting factions and the movie culminates in Murphy's character being executed by firing squad under the order of his brother (who he fought against the British with). Great cast, solid story, perfect director.

Some Like It Hot
DVD/ B&W/ 122 Mins./ NR/ 1959
With its transvestitism, palpable sex and murder, Billy Wilder's legendary screwball comedy reveals dark, hilarious roots. Musicians Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis accidentally witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and get out of town the only way they know how -- dressed as women. On the road to Florida with an all-girl band, they meet Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), and things start to heat up in this legendary farce.

Just watched Waiting... last night, pretty damn hilarious. Saw Snatch last week, which was also very funny. Superbad about a month ago. Oh and Hot Fuzz about a couple days ago. All excellent movies in my opinion.

The last movie I remember going to see was Transformers. Being a big transformers lover back in the days of my childhood, I wondered how good or bad the movie was. The only problem I had was it was hard to really concentrate on the movie since everybody in the theater was way to noisy and laughed too long and too loud at the funny parts of the flick. That in turn made it hard to hear what was going on in the rest of that part of the movie.

Quite honestly, I'd like to see it again, because generally, it was a good movie. I know alot of people would probably shoot me down for saying that, but hey, that's life people. ^_^
