A Mighty Wind
DVD/ Color/ 92 Mins./ PG/ 2003
Satirist in extremis Christopher Guest aims his mockumentary lens at 1960s folk musicians -- specifically, the earnest Folksmen (portrayed by erstwhile Spinal Tappers Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer), the too-perky New Main Street Singers and former lovebirds Mitch & Mickey. As the three acts prepare to reunite for a tribute concert, music and emotions run high. This Grammy winner is a parody in the tradition of Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman.

Have you seen Man on Fire with Denzel Washington? Its AMAZING!
Only if you've never actually read a Creasy book. If you have, it's a more painful disappointment than the first time they made it into a movie with Scott Glen, and that was a very poor effort. It's very sad that a movie studio can take a story with so much to offer and so royally screw it up.

I adore Slither. It's awesomely bad, and it stars captain tight-pants! :D

I also had a good time with it but couldn't exactly figure out why and when I found out that James Gunn (of Lloyd Kaufman's Tromeo and Juliet) helmed the project it all came together for me.

MAD MONSTER PARTY
DVD/ Color/ 95 Mins./ NR/ 1967
Boris Karloff and Phyllis Diller lend their vocal talents to this bizarre stop-motion animated parody of horror films. Dr. Frankenstein makes plans for his retirement and convenes a meeting of all monsters to announce his replacement. As word spreads that the doctor is going to choose his young nephew-protégé for the position, the visiting creatures plot a coup d'état that would leave Dr. Frankenstein retired … permanently.
Upon further researching this film, I have come across some disheartening news. Hollywood plans on making a live-action remake of this film possibly starring Jack Black scheduled for 2008.

The Fisher King
DVD/ Color/ 138 Mins./ R/ 1991
Shock-jock Jack Lucas (Jeff Bridges) becomes racked with guilt after a listener takes Jack's tirades to heart, resulting in a bloodbath at a New York City hot spot. Jack sinks into a depression, drinking himself nearly to death and sponging off his girlfriend (Oscar-winner Mercedes Ruehl). When Jack hits bottom, he's ready to end it all. Could a dotty homeless man (Robin Williams) whose wife died in the carnage be Jack's chance for redemption?

Still a really great film!

Charley
DVD/ Color/ 103 Mins./ PG/ 1968
Inspired by Daniel Keyes' story Flowers for Algernon, this film explores what happens when Charly Gordon (played by Cliff Robertson, who won an Oscar for his portrayal), a mentally handicapped adult, suddenly finds his faculties restored after an operation. Suddenly exposed to a world more complicated than before, Charly relies on the kindness of teachers, doctor and his caseworker (Claire Bloom) to get acclimated to his new capabilities.

BARBERELLA
DVD/ Color/ 98 Mins./ PG/ 1968
A young Jane Fonda stars as the shapely 41st century space traveler dispatched to apprehend missing scientist Durand Durand (Milo O'Shea), whose latest handiwork threatens to bring evil back to the galaxy. En route, Barbarella discovers the joys of celestial sex and experiences kinky misadventures with a mélange of bizarre characters. Fans of sci-fi kitsch will treasure the camp classic, which heaps on the psychedelic scenery with gaudy aplomb.

Barbarella, psychedella, theres a kind-a-cockle shell of value.

Video Game Invasion
DVD/ Color/ 120 Mins./ NR/ 2004
Skateboarding icon Tony Hawk plays host for this entertaining documentary chronicling the video-game craze and how it mushroomed from a pastime for computer mavericks to a multibillion-dollar business. Beginning with Pong in the 1970s and industry luminaries such as Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell, the film explores each era of gaming -- from coin-operated classics through the evolution of sound and graphics to the modern home-computer market.

A nice follow-up to the current book that I have been reading.

Done here.
Why do I get the feeling Patrick sees more movies in a week than I see in a year?

Anyway, I finally saw Ratatouille. Cute movie. Talented rat helps ******* son of deceased master chef claim his inheritance, and grateful heir helps talented rat succeed as France's greatest chef. A little bit Dickens, a little bit Disney. I want to see the same story done by Tarantino.

The Boys Of Brazil
DVD/ Color/ 127 Mins./ R/ 1978
In this thriller based on Ira Levin's novel, a young Nazi seeker, Barry Kohler (Steve Guttenberg), stumbles on the trail of the infamous Dr. Josef Mengele (Gregory Peck), the "Angel of Death." Kohler learns of an evil plot Mengele is planning and shares this information with seasoned Nazi hunter Ezra Lieberman (Sir Laurence Olivier), who doesn't take the information seriously until he makes his own grim discovery.

The Producers
DVD/Color/ 90 Mins./ PG/ 1968
In this hysterical farce, rapacious but lovable producer Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel) hasn't had a hit in years. Quite by accident, he and his meek, neurotic accountant, Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder), come up with a plot to oversell shares in a surefire flop musical and make off with the profits -- using the worst play ever written, "Springtime for Hitler." Inspired, manic performances and Brooks's lively direction make The Producers a true gem.

I am watching Nacho Libre! Sometimes to be a man means you have to wear stretchy pants. This is truly inspirational and I heartily endorse this to anyone who needs a lift.
