Princesinha
The Snow Walker. A little obscure film with actor Barry Pepper in it (I've been a fan of his ever since Saving Private Ryan). It was beautifully made, very haunting sort of movie---but I didn't quite like the ending. Left me going, That's it??

Kinky Boots, huh? That's an interesting title. What does the movie happen to be about?

A British shoe company in the towns goes under, and the owner ends up meeting a black transvestite in the big city and discovering, since "she" wears womens shoes, but obviously weighs the same as a man, her shoes are always breaking. All transvestites have the same problem, so he decides to start making shoes for transvestites. :D

That's the basic plot line, but there's half a dozen sub plots and all of that, of course.

Booko

Deviled Hen
Did I mention I saw The Illusionist?

Good flick...not predictable for a change. The script is great, directing fine, and acting quite capable.

It doesn't fit into any tidy genre package, so the critics probably panned it. It's what they usually do.

I'd give it a recommend, definitely.

I am on an Alien kick.

I'm watching them in random order: I watched Alien v Predator first, then Aliens, then Alien Resurrection, I'm watching Alien 3 tonight and then the first one sometime next week.

I loved all the Alien movies! I'm glad you admitted it before me. Made me more brave. :D

We watched United 93 the other night mostly because Rick is an air traffic controller and he heard they used real controllers for most of the scenes. Was a pretty good movie but made me much less confident in our military defense system. Rick also heard that the fellow who was in charge of the national air operations was welcomed to his first day on the job by 911.

You and my better half. All my favorite people like horrible movies.

We watched Beaches on TV tonight. Not one of my favorites, and made infinitely worse by the women in the room, who delivered extensive discourses comparing the lackluster cat in the movie to the winsome and vivacious cats they have back home. It's always a mistake not to drink when you have company. ;)

Some Kind of Strange
I started watching this movie called London with my mother the other day. Now, if I was by myself I probably would have enjoyed it and everything would've been fine. But it's just the kind of film that you don't take your mother to see. I don't think we made it past the first twenty minutes. Hopefully I can watch the rest of it under more appropriate circumstances.

:biglaugh: Hey, I'm with you on that particular movie though, pal. I could never see the love affair that most women I know have with that movie. If I never hear the words....."Did you ever know that you're my herooooo" again I will be a happy Chimpy.

You deserve a stiff one..........be nice now Bill, I know what you're thinking. ;)

Citizen Mod
A Dirty Shame
DVD/ Color/ NC-17/ 88 Mins./ 2004
John Waters’ latest movie and it seems he is back to exercising his roots in “bad taste”. The movie connects religious overtones with the psychology of sex addiction and blends them very well. Stars Tracey Ullman (I like Tracey Ullman and feel she is underused) and Chris Isaak?!?!?

Spider-Babe
DVD/ Color/ 90 Mins./ R/ 2003
Directed by Johnny Chase (no alias here)
Starring Misty Mundae
I read a review on this and the curiosity got the best of me. Almost an exact re-make of the Spider-Man movie except no special effects, no story, no directional skills, no budget and scattered with gratuitous unnecessary nudity. 90 minutes I will never get back in my life.

For my penance I watched Manos: The Hands Of Fate but since I did not know the Spider-Babe movie was going to be that bad, I watched the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of Manos.

Tonight’s feature is Darkwolf and since I read the review for this movie in the same magazine as the review for Spider-Babe, I am not expecting much.

I just watched Ralph Bakshi's "Heavy Traffic". I found it on vhs in a dollar bin. I've seen "Fritz the cat" , and this one didn't dissapoint.
Made me nostalgic for Wizards and Bakshi's version of LOTR.

I've heard of Hey Goodlookin' but not Streetfight, I'll have to be on the look out. I'd have loved to have seen a Bakshi contribution to Heavy Metal. It's a shame the best we can get these day's is Cool World and Roger Rabbit. But I must say anime has done a bit to dull my weird cartoon jones.
Friday night a friend brought over "Surviving the Game" w/ Ice Tea ,Rutger Haure and Gary Buesy . Another great flic I got to see this week end. I told him about "Mean Guns", also w/ Ice Tea, and we're renting it next week end.
Last week we watched "My Left Foot"(one of my favorites) and Poyanisqausti(visuals ala Coppola and music by Phillip Glass) ,both great works.
He ordered "Romper Stomper"(early Russel Crow) a couple of weeks ago and is waiting for it to arrive. He says it's like a tamer version of "American History X" and I have to see it.

I love movies.:D
