The Doll Squad
DVD/ Color/ 96 Mins./ PG/ 1973
Paving the way for such jiggle fare as "Charlie's Angels," the Doll Squad follows the jumpsuit-clad adventures of a group of beautiful crime-fighting babes who must stop a madman (Michael Ansara) from unleashing swarms of plague-infested rats upon the world. Led by redhead Sabrina (Francine York), the girls (Sherri Vernon, Leigh Christian, Judith McConnell and Tura Satana) use their martial arts skills to trounce the baddies in this cult classic.

WOW!!

Race to Witch Mountain

Not a bad remake. I have to admit I enjoyed it and so did my 6 year old daughter. I recommend it to anyone with kids.

Tu Stultus Es
Finally got around to watching The Mist. Mediocre, though worth renting, translation of one of the few King stories I like. The first 30 minutes are apocalyptic awesomeness, then a mediocre to dull second act, a stronger third, then an ending that had the potential to be really powerful, but collapses due to an absolute lack of logic (you know what I mean- why make such an irreversible choice just after a few hours!?!?!?!).

Frank Darabont has become a synonym for bland yet adequate films- just like Ron Howard.

Do you love bad tv shows like GGs and Angel? :p

Watched the first Thin Man movie last night for the 6th time I think. Powell and Loy were perfect together.
And a young Myrna Loy.... sigh...

Benny’s Video
DVD/ Color/ 105 Mins./ NR/ 1992
Fourteen-year-old Benny (Arno Frisch) is a video freak whose life consists only of school, videotaping what he sees outside his window and spending hours watching violent action films. Benny becomes obsessed with amateur footage of a pig being slaughtered, and soon, his passion for videotaped death leads him to commit a heinous act of his own. Austrian director Michael Haneke helms this postmodern exploration of emotional disconnection.

My second entry into director Michael Haneke’s (Funny Games) cinema exploitation of violence.

GOOD TIMES
DVD/ Color/ 92 Mins./ NR/ 1967
Sonny and Cher, those icons of glitzy 1970s pop music, star as themselves in this musical comedy. When a top-dog movie producer tells the musical pair he wants to turn them into movie stars, Sonny fantasizes about possible plots for their debut film. Songs include "I Got You Babe," "It's the Little Things," "Good Times," "Trust Me," "Don't Talk To Strangers," "I'm Gonna Love You" and "Just a Name." Also stars George Sanders and Norman Alden.

A Sonny and Cher movie?
Now I have seen it all!

I saw Twilight last weekend. I loved it but it was different having vampires glitter in the sun instead of blowing up. Now I want to own it and maybe read the books.
