Musk bought Twitter

If I tweet that horses can fly, who will believe me?

Freedom of speech implies I can write that horses can fly.
It is not my fault if some people believe me.
But if I use my authority as President of the United States, or as the chief of the department of justice, or the chief of the “US Bureau of Health”, etc…. and I inform you via Twitter that ongoing research shows clearly that global warming is not happening; or that Covid is not dangerous; or that Biden actually lost the 2020 election…. and I get several hundred other people, claiming to be judges and research professors, who all agree with me, then people will believe the outright lies that I am selling. ;)
There is no question at all that people will believe this. And people will die and they will let their children die because of misinformation.
They will vote and alter the foundations of the United States of America and democracy itself, because of misinformation. That is not open for debate. It is settled.

You are arguing for censorship and unfortunately you might actually believe it unless it's all an act. No thanks, your idea of an ideal America is quite disturbing, do you consider yourself a liberal?

Here is a disinformation campaign right before the 2020 election, many MSM sources were complicit in its banning, censoring, and disabling links to the Hunter Biden laptop which as we all know was %100 true.

Biden: "My son is an honourable man"
yep, crack and hookers

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Because misinformation kills. Millions of US citizens have news and Twitter, and Facebook, and …. And still they think CoViD is/was a lie. That getting vaccinated is worse. Hundreds of thousands of people in the US alone have died because of their being misled by misinformation. Millions think global warming isn’t even happening (Yes. There are millions of US ****heads who still believe that) or if it is happening then it was ‘natural’ and/or God’s will, and/or not too bad. Millions believe that Trump won the 2020 election and that the insurrection that he and his cronies orchestrated in order to topple the U.S. government was ‘Meh’ No big deal’.

Misinformation can kill. You. Know. That.

I don't use the excuse of misinformation to justify authoritarian tactics like censorship.

Putting information into the hands of people who decide for others what is true or not makes for a far worse danger that can and has killed a whole lot more.

Just ask the Communist party in China.

Hunter bidens laptop is an excellent example of how censorship can hide the truth.

I'd much rather see misinformation than deliberately holding back and hiding facts like the Democrats do through the use of censorship.

It's why these left wing authoritarians like censorship so much. It's only their propaganda that gets promoted.

A win for Trump. Once again anyone will be allowed to cry 'fire', let the chips fall where they may.
Trump has a right to his opinions as much as anyone else.

Don't like it?

Refute it with a tweet of your own.

That's what freedom is about.

illiberals love to use fear and lies to push their agendas, much like the so dubbed "don't say gay" bill, HB1557 says nothing of the sort but even Biden parroted the lie of "don't say gay", they lie and misinform constantly but they only really want censorship of any views that oppose theirs.

Why should someone feel bothered by the stories others tell?
I will not prevent someone from saying that horses can fly.
He is free to say that horses can fly.
If they believe him, that's not my problem.

As Voltaire said..."I do not agree with your statement , but I will fight, so you have the right to say it, I will fight to death."
Because words can be persuasive. And those words might be lies. And, when it came to covid, some of those lies caused deaths.

Gorgeous Elon did it. bravo

Not sure if this is good or bad. I guess it depends on the point of view. But the priorities of the filthy rich never cease to amaze me. Imagine the incredible things he could have done with that money

A random Twitter user is not a media.
It is not an authoritative source.

So...nobody "searches for the truth" among random Twitter users.

They look for the truth by buying newspapers.
A lot don't. (Not that papers are necessarily a source of "truth.")
I have a friend whose only source of "news" is Facebook. Consequently she's a veritable font of misinformation.

Yes, good for him

Now he can make some changes...more freedom of speech maybe. Less lawsuits. Not sueing people who already deleted their tweets.

Was a good publicity stunt though, just before buying Twitter being sued for a tweet:D

You mean the tweet where he called a diver "pedo guy"? That case was resolved almost three years ago, so I'm not sure how it's related to this.

Also, it wasn't just one tweet; it was a series of comments both on Twitter and elsewhere.

The World Weekly News is well-known for its accuracy and objectivity.

The less educated think things such as, you know, gargling bleach and covid...
Oh, do you mean the less educated like the West Virginia farmer, Wilbur Tennant, whose cows (as well as the whole community) were being poisoned by the the educated executives of DuPont? The uneducated farmer who was told by the educated corporate executives and lawyers it was just his poor farming practices that were damaging his cows. And do you mean uneducated people like this farmer who had to perform his own autopsies on his cows to discover and understand the damage, then fight those educated corporate executives for the truth?

Have you seen the film Dark Waters based on the true account of what took place?

“The film recounts the shocking real life story of how an American company called DuPont had been slowly and knowingly poisoning a community of 70,000 people via the local water supply for almost half a century.

A chemical they had been using to manufacture kitchenware products had seeped into the water via pipes that fed into the Ohio River that ran next to their plant and also by dumping landfill in unlined pits so that it fed into the soil and nearby water systems.

How shocking Dark Waters cover-up left cows with GREEN organs & 99% of US infected

Fear sells better (and travels much faster) than truth.

Your bias is showing.

Opponents Call It the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill. Here’s What It Says.
