Muslim Brotherhood Statement Denouncing UN Women Declaration for Violating Sharia Principles

Seems reasonable to me,whats the problem?,from the "The Freedom and Justice Party",my Dad was right,"you can't tell a book by its cover Son".

The 57th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), taking place from March 4 to 15 at UN headquarters, seeks to ratify a declaration euphemistically entitled ‘End Violence against Women’.

That title, however, is misleading and deceptive. The document includes articles that contradict established principles of Islam, undermine Islamic ethics and destroy the family, the basic building block of society, according to the Egyptian Constitution.

This declaration, if ratified, would lead to complete disintegration of society, and would certainly be the final step in the intellectual and cultural invasion of Muslim countries, eliminating the moral specificity that helps preserve cohesion of Islamic societies.

A closer look at these articles reveals what decadence awaits our world, if we sign this document:

1. Granting girls full sexual freedom, as well as the freedom to decide their own gender and the gender of their partners (ie, choose to have normal or homo- sexual relationships), while raising the age of marriage.

2. Providing contraceptives for adolescent girls and training them to use those, while legalizing abortion to get rid of unwanted pregnancies, in the name of sexual and reproductive rights.

3. Granting equal rights to adulterous wives and illegitimate sons resulting from adulterous relationships.

4. Granting equal rights to homosexuals, and providing protection and respect for prostitutes.

5. Giving wives full rights to file legal complaints against husbands accusing them of rape or sexual harassment, obliging competent authorities to deal husbands punishments similar to those prescribed for raping or sexually harassing a stranger.

6. Equal inheritance (between men and women).

7. Replacing guardianship with partnership, and full sharing of roles within the family between men and women such as: spending, child care and home chores.

8. Full equality in marriage legislation such as: allowing Muslim women to marry non-Muslim men, and abolition of polygamy, dowry, men taking charge of family spending, etc.

9. Removing the authority of divorce from husbands and placing it in the hands of judges, and sharing all property after divorce.

10. Cancelling the need for a husband’s consent in matters like: travel, work, or use of contraception.

These are destructive tools meant to undermine the family as an important institution; they would subvert the entire society, and drag it to pre-Islamic ignorance.

The Muslim Brotherhood urges the leaders of Muslim countries and their UN representatives to reject and condemn this document, and to call upon this organization to rise to the high morals and principles of family relations prescribed by Islam.

The Muslim Brotherhood also calls on Al-Azhar (the highest seat of learning for Muslims) to take the lead, condemn this declaration, and state clearly the Islamic viewpoint with regard to all details of this document.

Further, we urge all Islamic groups and associations to take a decisive stand on this document and similar declarations.
In conclusion, we call on women's organizations to commit to their religion and morals of their communities and the foundations of good social life and not be deceived with misleading calls to decadent modernization and paths of subversive immorality.

Of course some Women are mistreated by some in all societies, this opposition to the UN status on Women is blanket mistreatment IMO,of course i come from a different culture and perhaps some Women prefer to be second class citizens.

This view is seemingly shared by Hamas in Palestine,in the covenant (you know, the one Meshaal tries to distance Hamas from, which is quite absurd when you think about it) article 17 says it all.

Article Seventeen: The Role of Muslim Women
The Muslim women have a no lesser role than that of men in the war of liberation; they manufacture men and play a great role in guiding and educating the [new] generation. The enemies have understood that role, therefore they realize that if they can guide and educate [the Muslim women] in a way that would distance them from Islam, they would have won that war. Therefore, you can see them making consistent efforts [in that direction] by way of publicity and movies, curricula of education and culture, using as their intermediaries their craftsmen who are part of the various Zionist Organizations which take on all sorts of names and shapes such as: the Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, gangs of spies and the like. All of them are nests of saboteurs and sabotage. Those Zionist organizations control vast material resources, which enable them to fulfill their mission amidst societies, with a view of implementing Zionist goals and sowing the concepts that can be of use to the enemy. Those organizations operate [in a situation] where Islam is absent from the arena and alienated from its people. Thus, the Muslims must fulfill their duty in confronting the schemes of those saboteurs. When Islam will retake possession of [the means to] guide the life [of the Muslims], it will wipe out those organizations which are the enemy of humanity and Islam.

It certainly takes a big step to ending the violence against women. If it goes against religious sensibilities, too bad. I'd rather see religious authorities upset and shouting obscenities than seeing just one more battered woman or young girl having acid thrown on her face because she shamed her family.

I think its too stupid thing to try to unify and standardize the rules of women allover the world as its community and society had its religions and traditions that should be taken in consideration whike writing rights and duties for women isn't it?

I think its a right for them to take if they wish to use it,there are women who would not take that right due to religious or cultural traditions or fear reprisal,i can't understand that personally even though my culture was like that once but now its unthinkable that a Women shoud be deprived of equality.

I think we need to define equality first as the creator doesn't create males and females in equality but to complete each other, so the word equality need to be adjusted

I think when it comes to defining equality we should stick to reality,as a Human being a Woman should have the same rights as Men,as far as i'm concerned there are no negative attributes to that.

What is the relation between Violence against women and point #4 granting respect for prostitutes.

Did CSW urge to respect prostitutes and gave woman full sexual freedom?

Not when these traditions permit a woman to be raped by her husband, stop her from traveling without the permission of he husband, and deny her any say in deciding to divorce her husband. These "traditions" are nothing more than a primitive form of barbarism hiding under the guise of religious freedom. They reduce women to the status of children, who can never be regarded as equals by their husbands/masters.

What, pray tell, is "stupid" about any of it? A woman should never need a man's permission to do anything, let alone just to leave the house. A woman should be able to call for a divorce, should be able to accuse her significant other of sexual abuse, should be able to choose who she wants to spend her life with, and she should also be able to choose if she wants to use her reproductive organs or not. I also find nothing wrong with respecting prostitutes, because they are people too. And of course it isn't like a certain prophet has a story of showing kindness and respect to a prostitute.

Only ones I have no problem with are 5 and 7. The rest have many issues.
Why should a woman not have equal inheritance rights, or equal legal rights? Why should a woman need your permission to do things?

It certainly takes a big step to ending the violence against women. If it goes against religious sensibilities, too bad. Damn personal feelings. Women are people to, and if people have a problem with a woman being equal to a man then that is their own problem. And those traditions and cultures that would settle for anything less than true equality deserve to die out (My own culture as well deserves to die off and be replaced).

I think we need to define equality first as the creator doesn't create males and females in equality but to complete each other, so the word equality need to be adjusted
Equality is that men and women both share full equal rights and protection under the law.
