My personal encounter with Jesus

I can't be happy for someone if they have undiagnosed mental illness, no.

Being spiritual, religious, etc., is one thing. Most of my friends identify as Catholic or Christian, and many of my family members...particularly my mother...are very devout. They are happy in their faith and more power to them, my feelings about it aside.

That's an entirely different situation than those who report hearing voices, having literal visions...some people claim stories like they flew off into some world where Jesus was talking to them, etc. These things are signs...very sorry to insult anyone...of mental illness. So it's not that I'm making fun of these people that are suicidal, depressed, bi-polar, etc. On the contrary, I believe they deserve proper attention and not lip service. It's that I think it's medically irresponsible for their friends and family to say "oh that's nice that you talked to God last night" when something very serious is likely wrong.

Because if the "voice" today says :"thou shalt help the old lady across the street" who's to say tomorrow the voice won't say "jump off that bridge" or "drown your children?" And don't laugh, this kind of thing happens all the time.
I can see what I say goes right I over your guys heads.

I can't see the link because facebook is blocked here at work.

You have done nothing but insult me as a believer. You make assumption s about people who believe in God by saying we are mental.

I don't make any assumptions about people who believe in God. I make statements about people who claim to literally hear voices or see visions, because it's not real and it's a sign of mental illness. The vast, vast majority of people who believe in God don't report these things.

You can take is as an insult if you choose to. But you can't expect everyone to say "oh gee isn't that wonderful" when you make bold claims about hearing voices or having visions, because most of the world...even most of your fellow religious people...recognize that God doesn't talk to people like that and that it is a sign of a potential serious problem.

I make up facts.
You don't get it! you are insulting us who do believe in God when you say if we hear God we need help.

If you hear, in your head, god actually talking to you ... like using words and such ... please seek the help of a psychologist. I fear you are mentally disturbed.

The Holy Spirit sounds like our own voice. It's like our own inner voice guiding us. You know it's the holy spirit when you feel it speaking to your heart about subjects or issues you normally don't think or talk about. I know for me if I am really up set with people for example I will feel it telling me I need to forgive and I need to love thy enemies.

No, it is your brain doing that.

Then you don't know that many believers then

As I mentioned, the majority of people in my life are religious. Family, friends, co-workers. None report hearing voices, seeing visions, or confuse dreams with real events...something else I've heard on these boards.

I still can't see that link you put out there though, so I'm not sure what it says. I do see it says "Jesus freak hideout" which clues me in that it's likely not your typical Christian person. I know literally hundreds of Christians personally, none of whom would call themselves "Jesus freaks" and none of whom hear voices in their heads.

Most Christians will agree with me God speaks to people through the holy spirit.

Most Christians say that figuratively. Like if you go to cheat on your wife and start to feel guilty about it, some Christians frame that feeling as "the holy spirit" guiding them away from cheating. Others call it "conscience."

Most Christians do not claim to hear an actual voice inside their head. That's because most Christians don't have mental illness.

I would check it out, but I'm at work and they block facebook here.

However I doubt what a few nincompoops say on your facebook page is going to convince me that a majority of Christians claim to literally hear voices in their heads.

I have all the groups I have made on closed. The only way you can see it is you have be in the group. We have rules in the group. There is no fighting in the group. You have to be a Christian to be in it. Its a safe place for believers to post
