Need advice... Clashing feelings about faiths!

Well from all this, you can see how much my faith wobbles from one side to the other. Sometimes I just have bad days. I have requested help from an organisation that helps sisters in Islam. We'll see how this goes!

This is exactly what I am going to do inshallah. Good idea. I hope to attend a womens halaqa if hours permit.

One step at a time...

Yes well the idea is that I'm trying to not be alone in this anymore, even though asking for help is hard for me. I'm also still a bit anxious/phobic when meeting new people.

I set Islam aside last time, because there's was no one to support me. I don't know any Muslims in the UK. I had issues with certain things in the faith but that can be explained and talked about. Support and community are so important!

When someone converts/reverts to Islam, you have SO MUCH to learn... When alone, this is slowed down. Simply because you have no one to correct you, you don't have consistant help and no one is there to encourage you to keep doing it.

Do you know about the organization Solace (Home) ?

May Allah(swt) help both of you and make things easier for you. Free free to ask if you need help or have questions but always keep in touch with believers - that will help in down times InshaAllah.

I would say take your time learning, realize there are only 5 pillars..all the rest will come in time. Think yourself as a little plant blossoming, grow too fast and too tall without strength and you'll just topple over...find stability in the small and simple requirements.

Make the journey enjoyable, but do seek the support you need to keep happy.

It can be hard to come out of your shell but once you do the rewards are wonderful.

hang in theere.

I don't know where you got your "information" (probably anti-Islam website), but this isn't what I read at all, on the contrary. Anyway, if you come here to bash, I'd appreciate it if you didn't.

If you have respectful advice however, that I appreciate.

My thoughts exactly!

I can't wait to get contact from the sister who works for Solace, I already have questions, lol. But I'm feeling a lot more hope and strenght than I did before. I just need to learn and do all my Salahs, Insha'Allah. I know this will make a HUGE difference.

But I need help to learn that, so hopefully I get contact with people I can meet.

I'm sick of religion, atm. I'm going to give myself a break from it.

I'm not saying that I'm not looking at the wonders of the world and feel God's presence in them anymore, just I'll stick to being a plain theist for some time to break away from these feelings.

Maybe I'll try nature centric religion next.

Do you find that religions which have a lot of rules and criterias put you off? Or is it more to do with their core philosophical ideas?

Since you've been having a lot of trouble with different religions, maybe you are infact Agnostic?

An obsession with anything is detrimental IMO, how about kick back relax and take things one at a time, religion to me is a source of peace and comfort..that being said..I dont dwell on it or speak of it all the time..its a personal matter..I believe I have a very good understanding of Tawhid and thats ultimately all I need..Im pretty lazy when it comes to prayers..sometimes..I have moody phases..

Best of luck with whatever you decide )(..you should take a break from God..

I reckon if you understand Tawhid, you will understand that taking a break from him isnt possible..rather peacefully acknowledging his existence and true attributes.. :)

Peace
God Bless

He Who created the seven heavens in layers. You will not find any flaw in the creation of the All-Merciful. Look again-do you see any gaps? Then look again and again. Your sight will return to you dazzled and exhausted! (Qur'an, 67:3-4)
Do you not see how He created seven heavens in layers? (Qur'an, 71:15)
He to Whom the kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs. He does not have a son and He has no partner in the Kingdom. He created everything and determined it most exactly. (Qur'an, 25:2)
Materialist philosophy emerged with the claim that all the systems in nature and the universe were like machines that functioned on their own, that the flawless order and balance within them were the work of chance. However, today, the false nature of materialism and of Darwinism, its so-called scientific foundation, has been scientifically demonstrated.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the thread... Just know that I'm not giving up in the idea of God and I dislike materialism. I don't reject Islam, I believe it came from God, the core of it, but so much didn't feel right.

Maybe it's obvious to you and the belief in Islam is easy, but for me, it felt like I was lying to myself. I constantly questioned myself, do I really believe this? Most of the time, the honest answer was no.

May be you can bring up some of those questions for clarifications and we can try to answer them for you ?

You probably have heard those questions on the forums and believe me I read a lot, watched videos, read the Quran and asked Muslims but my heart was not at peace at all.

It felt wrong to me (although I'm happy for anyone who finds peace in Islam).

I have to find myself and find my path towards god - the all.

Hey mate,

There is no compulsion in religion.. I believe Allah Guides Whom he Wills.

2.142 The foolish among the people will say, "What has turned them away from their qiblah, which they used to face?" Say, "To Allah belongs the east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a straight path."

2.213 ... religion [before their deviation]; then Allah sent the prophets as bringers ... jealous animosity among themselves. And Allah guided those who believed to the ... differed, by His permission. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.

2.272 ... [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills. And whatever good you [believers ... countenance of Allah . And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be ...

4.88 ... groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back ... to guide those whom Allah has sent astray? And he whom Allah sends astray - never will you ...

6.39 Those who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) are deaf and dumb in darkness. Allah sends astray whom He wills and He guides on the Straight Path whom He wills.

6.80 ... . He said: "Do you dispute with me concerning Allah while He has guided me, and I fear not those whom you associate with Allah ... (Allah) wills something. My Lord comprehends in His Knowledge all things. Will you ...

10.25 And Allah invites to the Home of Peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path

13.27 And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, Allah leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him] -

13.33 Is then He (Allah) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, ... partners to Allah. Say: "Name them! Is it that you will inform Him of something He knows not in ... Right Path, and whom Allah sends astray, for him, there is no guide.

14.4 ... them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted ...

16.93 And if Allah had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do

17.97 And he whom Allah guides, he is led aright; but he whom He sends astray for such you will ... , dumb and deaf, their abode will be Hell; whenever it abates ...

18.17 ... signs of Allah . He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide.

22.16 Thus have We sent it (this Quran) down (to Muhammad SAW) as clear signs, evidences and proofs, and surely, Allah guides whom He wills.

24.21 ... of Shaitan (Satan), then, verily he commands Al-Fahsha' [i.e ... been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you ... from sins. But Allah purifies (guides to Islam) whom He wills, and Allah is All-Hearer ...

24.35 Allah is the Light of the ... . Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah ...

24.46 We have certainly sent down distinct verses. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.

28.56 Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

I often find consolation in the following chapter..

109: Say : O ye that reject Faith! [1] I worship not that which ye worship, [2] Nor will ye worship that which I worship. [3] And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, [4] Nor will ye worship that which I worship. [5] To you be your Way, and to me mine. [6]

The point of this post being

When I find myself in times of trouble, Guidance (Quran) comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness it is open right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

One thing that I try to focus on when I'm feeling a conflict with my faith is what exactly brought me to that faith to begin with.

Forget religion for a moment. Forget dogma and rituals and complex philosophy. What do you believe intrinsically about the nature of humanity?

Example: I ask myself what I believe regardless of the existence of Hinduism (or any other faith for that matter). One answer for me is that I believe each human being is a part of a larger whole and that we are all connected - we just have separate bodies.

From this one "truth" (a personal truth) I can start over and build from there. I start to build a picture of what I believe and where intuition pulls me.

I know sometimes, I over think my religion and this can rob me of some of the joy of practicing. Not that we shouldn't think deeply about the tenets of our faith -we absolutely should - but remember that you are trying to connect with God or at least understand what/who God is. That faceless entity wants you to have peace and happiness. It wants you to find it. I find some comfort in that thought.

Good luck to you on your search. You'll find what you need:hugehug:

I am not trying to force anyone to accept Islam. I just offered to help answer questions in case it benefits someone.

I didnt imply that you were forcing anyone..If you read the whole thread you will realize that she has been exposed to Islam from many angles..not to mention seems prone to have second thoughts about everything..in that case my best course of action is believing that somethings are never meant to be..

Best of Luck with whatever you decide illy!

You can't try to be an atheist. You can try to understand the atheist arguments and then if you agree you become an atheist. It is the same with religion. You learn about a religion and only if you believe it do you convert.
