If we can get what we need elsewhere, than there is no real need for religion.

Meaning/purpose in life. It cannot be found with science, but one can find purpose by becoming a scientist, or an artist, priest, sky diver, etc.

Several needs I can think off the top of my head: Community, comfort, celebration, unity and union, even leisure.

Is there a need for particular religions? On their own, I'd say no. Now, can one find a need for spirituality though? Yes. And many find their spirituality best channeled/focused through the ritual that religion brings.
