New gender?

Conchita Wurst is a drag queen persona. I already posted the Wikipedia link. I'm not European and don't follow that contest, so I've never heard of her but I know how to use a thing called Google Image Search. Maybe you've heard of it?! It's not unheard of for drag queens to have facial hair. It's called gender ******* or gender bending. Never heard of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence? They do the same damn thing (albeit in a far campier manner)! The point of the persona is to promote tolerance and understanding. Seems we have a lot of work to do in that area! This thread is so ignorant and offensive. Jesus, you people...

What you're naively overlooking is the simple fact that drag queens like Conchita Wurst are going to bring about the collapse of our civilization. Just watching one sing is enough to cause you to lose your moral bearings. They're decadent, I tell you! Decadent! I strongly suggest now is the time for panic.

OMG, you're so totally right! We need to join the Russians in calling for her removal from the contest right now!

I'm not nearly as ignorant as you believe. That was not the point anyway.

People want to turn themselves into freaks because they want attention and that's the best way they can find to get it, their choice. I don't have to approve it, I don't have to like it. If you want to call me a few names that's no problem.

Like Sunstone wisely put it, these people are decadent.
Personally, I like men who look like men, not men who need to disguise themselves as half women so people look at them.

The word freak is relative tho, it's really pretty meaningless as an insult.

Quite right. Apparently I underestimated your ignorance.

Honey, drag queens and gender benders have been out in the open and part of culture for many decades. This isn't anything new. But even besides drag, androgyny has been part of the pop culture landscape for decades, as well. Don't you know who David Bowie is? Have you been living under a rock?

Like Sunstone wisely put it, these people are decadent.
Apparently you're one of the type who isn't able to recognize satire when it's slapping you in the face (and it was).

Personally, I like men who look like men, not men who need to disguise themselves as half women so people look at them.
Who the hell cares? He's gay, first off. Second, even if he was bi or straight, what makes you think he would be interested in drawing the attention of someone like yourself?

Just because someone is making fun of me, doesn't mean I can't agree with what they are saying, even if they were being sarcastic ;)

Anyway, you're all very nice people but I'm going for a run so I'll let you think of a few more adjectives to qualify me. I might come back later. Have a nice sunday.

That's quite frightening that you would seriously agree with that. How is a man wearing a dress and makeup any more "decadent" than a woman wearing the same? Are only women allowed to look glamorous? Or maybe you're jealous that he is wearing it better than you can?

I told you it was time to panic. But no, you wouldn't listen to me. Well, buddy, that giant cracking sound you just heard was from the pillars of our civilization as they begin to collapse! So there! I hope you'll be happy living among the ruins.

Lol. It would probably collapse first in France because the French are renown for their self-indulgence and sensuality, what with their love of wine, cigarettes and being one of the fashion capitals of the world. Ooh, irony.

What is rather disturbing and unfortunate is not the glamorous young person, but the nasty, judgemental close-mindedness of some of the reactions.

Girls dressed as boys, boys dressed as girls is as ancient as society itself. I am deeply concerned about people judging others according to purely superficial things. A society that is tolerant and inclusive is a good thing. A society that decides whether it likes or dislikes people because of their appearance is not.

If the pillars of your society are threatened by a young person expressing themself in costume, then good riddance to your society - the world is better of without it.

I saw this photo today. Apparently this is a candidate in the Eurovision singing contest. I'm still trying to figure out what he/she/it is. Maybe there is a new gender and someone forgot to tell me.

Anyway, any thoughts on the new species?
