The democrats have been calling for action against Russia, they might not be that unhappy about this new Trump. I sort of expected the worst the minute he nominated Bolton.

It seems like media is starting to go on Trump's side since he is continuing the story... now it's all about Putin.

I don't find the Democratic Party to be innocent with their foreign policy either. Both parties harbor an extremely worrisome amount of warmongering tendencies, although the GOP is still worse in that regard.

They both seem terribly short-sighted and so far they have the backing of military power so they don't have to deal with consequences the rest of the world has to.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Ya, it's true that Presidents can take limited military action without congressional approval.

WW3 here we come. I think a couple of days ago, IIRC we were 3 minutes from midnight not sure about right now.
It looks like you're thinking of the Warsaw Pact Days and the USSR.

I think involvement in wars can only be justified if 'we' have a definite outcome. We know what will be 'mission complete'. Do Trump, May, etc know what the end game is here?

I get the time frame, but what did Bill Clinton do? Send missile strikes without congressional approval?

Bombing runs.

He got permission from the Senate, but not from the House. In fact the House initially said no but he continued on regardless:

Rep. Peter King says Bill Clinton continued Kosovo air campaign after rebuke by House

The timing was right at the height of the Monica Lewinsky mess. Both right and left sources attacked him for that:

When Clinton Lied, Yugoslavia Died
How a President, Distracted by Scandal, Entered Balkan War

That is the problem when a President is rocked by scandal. Anything decisive that he ends up doing is tainted as an attempt to move attention away from the scandal.
