New strike on Syria without congressional approval.

Ya, it's true that Presidents can take limited military action without congressional approval.

WW3 here we come. I think a couple of days ago, IIRC we were 3 minutes from midnight not sure about right now.

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
How long ago was Bolton made security advisor? I predicted we'd all be dead in a year. I may have been naívely optimistic.

Theresa May has done something similar. She's just cut Parliament out (even though Parliament is supposed to be sovereign in English law) of the decision-making process and authorised military action unilaterally. There wasn't even a consultation with the Privy Council. If anything, she'll attempt to legalise the actions after the fact.

Seems like something every US president does. But it's good if people's hate toward Trump will make it so that the next presidents will have to think it over.
Every president elect promises us US peeps no war but in the end they don't live up to expectations. Trump doing a change from one day to the next is not surprising, unfortunately. :(

It'll depend on Putin's next move as to whether this now escalates.
I think it will. There has been a constant push and desire in that direction. I think the US and Russia have been looking for a more direct war for almost a decade since Russia seems to be winning the proxy ones. No one seems to be accounting for China.

The difference maybe for you Americans. Internationally it doesn't seem like there's much difference who's in charge. This was something an aged coworker told me in the 90s, and although I was skeptical at the time, it seems true. No wonder folks in the Middle East are angry at the "West".

Nobody I ever talk to seems interested in taking on their numbers.

At this point, I'm convinced Trump doesn't need congressional approval; he needs to be impeached and thrown in jail for his crimes before sparking a third world war or using nuclear weapons like the impulsive psychopath that he is.
The third world started long before him. He's just a little meaningless piece in the game

The third world started what long before him?

Edit: If you mean third world war, then I disagree that it started "long before him." Up until Trump, I hadn't seen any leader of a global superpower talking about using nuclear weapons on Twitter as if doing so were a walk in the park. His impulsiveness also underlines the increased risk during his tenure even more, because he doesn't seem to put much if any effort into talking diplomatically about perceived issues with other global superpowers like China and Russia.

I'm terribly sorry. You must have been very confused. I didn't mean to cause any discomfort. What I meant was the third world war. See I missed a word somehow somewhere between the word "war" between he words "third" and "started".

You didn't cause any discomfort; I realized a few seconds after posting my reply what you were referring to, hence the edit in my post.

Does he try to hide that matter? That he isn't trying with or without the superpowers?

He doesn't seem to be diplomatic or calculated enough in the way he expresses himself to hide much, which could be a useful trait in a lot of contexts but is potentially extremely destructive in politics.

So you really think he's just a stupid celebrity who happened to end up a president? That he really believes in all the nonsense he spits about? :screamcat:

I don't.

The democrats have been calling for action against Russia, they might not be that unhappy about this new Trump. I sort of expected the worst the minute he nominated Bolton.

It seems like media is starting to go on Trump's side since he is continuing the story... now it's all about Putin.
