We have the right to be here, and we are imperfect, but good. The Aztecs and Mayas were nothing to write home about.
I vote 'Other'. I think 'Indigenous Persons Day' is a lame name, but I agree that 'Columbus Day' is inappropriate. Our understanding of Columbus has changed. He doesn't discover America, and he doesn't bring enlightenment or great bounty. He just comes and conquers, so I don't have any fondness for him. I think he's clever but is more of an Alexander type character than a President Washington type.

Here are some much better names than 'Indigenous Persons' day:
  • The Great Collision Day
  • Mediocre Heroes Day
  • Not Really India Day
  • We Weren't There Day
  • West Is Best Day
  • Coffee Attainment Day

Since I never voted and the day has passed, I felt bad for "Fall Break Day" because it received no votes, so I voted for that.

That and I love the irony in the name.
