No Trinity in the NT

Yes and no.

There's really not much doubt that at least by the time Paul started writing, which was about two decades after Jesus was executed, those in the Way made a connection between God and Jesus that went beyond him just being a prophet. We see this even in the scriptures.

However, exactly what that connection was not clear, especially since Jesus could not be "the Father". And then there was the question as to whether Jesus was a man at all? Was he an angel? something different? what?

This debate extended into the 2nd century, and about the only thing we can say that they did agree on was that Jesus had some sort of direct connection with God and the Holy Spirit, thus "the mystery of the trinity".
