Huh? you're saying a whole lot of nothing.
Quoting one guy doesn't really mean too much now does it?
At least I cited one source; what have you provided aside from your own musings about the hiddenness of God?
Who is he, speaker for the world?
Look him up! He has a Wikipedia page and a page in the online Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy The name is spelled:
Kierkegaard, and he wrote (Fear and Trembling) - a detailed, exhaustive analysis of the story in the Old Testament called
The Binding of Isaac...the story where God tells Abraham to bind his son and take him up to the altar to be sacrificed as a burnt offering....and then sends an angel at the last second to say: just kidding...
we just wanted to see if you'd really do it...were you really going to kill your son? Okay, maybe that's not what it actually says in writing, but the story has bewildered and disturbed many readers over the centuries as to its actually meaning, and Kierkegaard shows how Abraham is placed in a situation by God, where there is no right answer. God is telling Abraham to violate God's own law, so if he obeys God, he commits human sacrifice...but if he doesn't, he disobeys God's direct command.
What difference does it make to you anyway?
You dont believe in God?
So what! I also don't believe in some of the modern gods that have been created to replace belief in God.
There seems to be two types of people who come to these forums:
1. Those who recognize that there are a lot of different metaphysical beliefs out there, and want to know what people believe, and why they believe them, and....
2. Those who believe they have either exclusive or almost exclusive truth, and have come here to preach their religion/or to preach against all religion.
Good, but you cant think for millions and millions of people.
You select a screen name of
"I" Have The Gift, and you're going to accuse me of arrogance?
worry about your life, let everyone else worry theirs
Which brings me to your post that I responded to:
If he were to give you 100% evidence of his existence, there would be no need for Faith.
Seems pretty logical to me.
However, the closer get to God, the more he has revealed to me of his existence
Doesn't seem like you're willing to butt out of giving everyone else free advice! Your mocking outrage is about having the basis of your faith questioned. If your faith was that strong, you would not only be able to explain it a little, you wouldn't consider it an offense if someone else questions your version of God as the divine stripper...just teasing us with a little bit of evidence, but not willing to show us the whole thing!
