Reflection: the international community blew this latest incident way out of proportion (like they always do) when most of the world has absolutely no state in that ridiculous, obnoxious and stupid conflict.

Anyone who isn't directly involved in it should ignore and forget about both sides. The attention they get is parasitic. Media and politicians are a major part of the problem.

Big picture - this stupid conflict really doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things.
Except the governments of the West are bankrolling "Israel", and their lobby basically owns much of the US government. So we don't have the luxury of pretending that it doesn't involve us. Those are US weapons (for the most part) they are using on Gaza. They are making us complicit in their genocide, and that could have serious repercussions.

Yeah, let's totally ignore a genocide taking place.

That ball is in Israel's hands.
The oppressed will never be
first to offer an olive branch.
Is that suppose to be deep wisdom? It isn’t possible for oppressed people to have evil hatred in their hearts prior to being oppressed?

One year ago today, Hamas conducted an utterly brutal attack against partiers at an Israeli rock festival. What has happened, both in the West and in Israel is indescribable.

Developments in Israel - Israel's initial response was demonstrably unprepared. Somehow, the major portions of the leadership of Hamas escaped. Because Hamas managed to create a "Gaza under Gaza" Israel had no way to respond without causing massive civilian casualties. Hamas placed its military facilities in tunnels underneath schools, hospitals and other civilian uses. Israel simply could not respond without massive destruction of civilian facilities and without increasing already desperate suffering.

It could simply close off the border with Gaza, increase surveillance, make a deal to retrieve the hostages and search and kill the main responsibles for the attack using proper intel.

After a halting start, Israel's response has become much better. In many ways, what has happened since the beginning of August is a model for what should have happened to begin with. First, major Hamas leaders were killed in safe houses in Iran. Iran and Hamas were badly humiliated by the Israeli response, which has been effective.

Even better has been the recent attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon. Those attacks were sequential. First, though Israel has not claimed credit, were the pager explosions. The next day, walkie talkies blew up. Nazrallah Met his deserved fate days later, as did much of Hezbollah's leadership.

Western Reaction - The West's response, ranging from university campuses to governments has been horrific. At one time the West was not shy about designating itself as the "civilized world" and others as "savages." Even the New York Times regularly described Arab attackers as “marauders.” Now, for whatever reason, we dignify savages as “militants.” We criticize Israel for “disproportionate” responses to activity which at one time would have been unacceptable. Somehow, murdering 1200 innocent civilians and grabbing hostages and committing rape is an acceptable tactic.

Who said that killing 1200 civilians is an acceptable tactic? Smells like a strawman.

Students yelling “from the river to the sea” are advocating Hitlerian murder. No one calls them out on this. They are attending school on their parents' dime or more likely on subsidized student aid while constructing encampments and destroying university life. University professors express "exhilaration." University presidents testify in Congress that whether antisemitic violence violence violates university codes of conduct depends on the "context."

Somehow, we are squeamish about treating these people as criminals. If we arrest them, we are releasing them without charges. Alvin Bragg dismissed virtually all the charges against the Vandals and other criminals.

Ah, so you are condemning students for yelling words you dislike but no words of criticism for a genocide going on.

Lessons from October 7 - What October 7th shows is that we have totally lost our nerve To defend and protect civilization. We applaud murder. We condemn Israel's efforts to ensure that “never again” has meaning.

See Bari Weiss: A Year of Revelations (link) for another excellent discussion.

Since when do we need to defend Israel's actions to defend civilization?

I'm not talking about Hamas at all. You seem confused. I was talking about removing the Israeli state and that it doesn't require wiping out the people.
Israel has a right to exist. Time to accept it. The Arabs won’t accept it because their God tells them that the land is theirs. It’s a freakshow holy war.

I don't have to accept a thing, and I don't believe in "Israel" since that's just some religious colonial fantasy they're trying to construct on other people's land.

Um...you mean the Jews. Lol.

I suppose the USA should dismantle and let the native Americans run the country too.

Let the Arabs build something better in Gaza with help from all the surrounding Arab nations
It would be more appropriate for US tax dollars
to help rebuild Gaza. After all, twas those tax
dollars that paid for its destruction. But that
won't be worth it until Israel is either reformed
or restrained.

Fine with me. I'd be fine with the indigenous people here rising up and kicking everyone else out. They'd probably do a better job at running it. America has sure racked up a ton of bad karma in its short existence that will come for it's due eventually. I'd rather be in Europe, anyway.

The Arabs need that little sliver of land after 6 million Jews were gassed in Europe and they needed somewhere to go? The Arabs could’ve showed a little compassion and let them keep their little sliver of land and let them call it what they want.
