Only Three States Approved Same Sex Marriage By "Popular Vote"

When have people complained about religious organizations conducting private marriage ceremonies?
People always complain. Forcing churches to perform gay marriages against their beliefs is being done right now in Europe.
Will churches be forced to perform same-sex ‘weddings’?
In 2012 “Homosexual couples in Denmark … won the right to get married in any church they choose, even though nearly one-third of the country’s priests have said they will refuse to carry out the ceremonies.”... What is striking about their lawsuit is that in July 2013, England and Wales legalized same-sex “marriage,” and there were plenty of churches that would have gladly performed the ceremony for this couple. But, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his partner Tony, rather than request a ceremony from a church that would recognize their union, have opted to take the church they regularly attend to court in order to force them to officiate the wedding.”
In 2013 a gay couple in England sued the Anglican Church for the right to “marry” in the church of their choice.
I'm positive gay marriage activists will try to force them over here.

In the case of Denmark: churches are subsidized by the state and bishops get a government salary. I see no problem with the government imposing rules on what are effectively civil servants and government contractors. Accountability to government comes as a package deal with government money.

As for that British case: the mere fact that a lawsuit has been filed doesn't mean that it will be successful.

But that wouldn't apply if Churches rescinded their rights to carry out legally recognized marriage ceremonies, so why does this matter?

Also, Churches are not "forced" to perform gay weddings in Europe, they can opt out and individual priests can even decline to perform one. This was not an attack on individual beliefs, no matter how you try to spin it. If the issue is belief, why not accept my suggestion? If Churches only conduct private marriage ceremonies with no legal ramifications, they can't possibly be taken to court.

How terrifying for you, having to consider treating people equally. Just like how all those dark-skinned people demanded the same rights as every one else. Bloomin' scoundrels!
