You have pretty much stated everything I said earlier lol. Also do keep in mind that when I say anti-theism is is specifically limited to Christianity mostly. They hold grudges against Christianity or religion in general and go under the impression they are rebelling or somehow achieving something greater. It is a personal agenda and the vast majority have something to prove to the world or other Satanist. The point though is that all the efforts done by these communal Satanist are delusions.

I tend to disagree, "anti-theism" isn't a term free of exception.

As for the rest, perhaps you have a point. But then perhaps we are all delusional.

What wrong with atheists getting together as a community? Humanity is a social creature and last I looked atheists are human. Why would it be any different from secular humanists for example.

I think it's an issue of naming, not about community itself.

To create an Atheist Association is one thing but to say the Atheist Church is another. Using the name Church to describe an Atheistic community is an oxymoron since a church implies a gathering of like-minded THEISTS, so usage of this word is very hypocritical.

I see. Yes I think naming an association of atheists Atheist Church is rather a contradiction and probably not a good precedent to set.

Doesnt having a church contradict the whole purpose of Atheism..to get rid of "religious control" of the masses..and inspire individual thought..

IMO somewhere down the line..the organizer at the church will be the shepherds and the attending Atheists their flock.

It's not about having a community, it's about what they call it. I don't really care what they call it, but the word Church would have some people labeling them with "theist", which I am quite certain atheists wouldn't like. :)

Atheists are just confused theists :bat:

I'm not going to get my panties in a twist over what a group of atheists decide to call their communal gatherings. If they have enough of a sense of humor to call it a "church", then so be it.

Hehe, any sense of the word "theism" is usually invoked with a frivolous endeavor, or profound one sidedness.

And I say this out of the notion that regardless of how much study and effort one points into either side, ONE side is still picked in the end.

Its either frivolous, or one sided :bat:

I was quite surprised to see this happen in the UK. In my experience people's religion or lack of religion isn't much of a concern for the most part (with the notable exception of anti-Muslim sentiment from some delightful groups). Reading the article though it looks like it could be fun. Kind of a comedy club crossed with a discussion group.

Wonder if they'll send missionaries up to Manchester ;)

I could say the same for Satanist. Spent a year with them. Definitely a confused bunch. They use a theistic symbol yet the majority claim atheism or anti-theism. Either you are theistic or you are not.

And also..... An-la'ana Shaytaan ألعن الشيطان :D . Sorry I had to say it, I am just an ex-Muslim who can't help himself
