Opinion on the Atheist "Church"?

I could say the same for Satanist. Spent a year with them. Definitely a confused bunch. They use a theistic symbol yet the majority claim atheism or anti-theism.

I tend to stick with this, no matter who you are, you are confused.

Its not like not knowing anything is a bad thing anyways.

Actually its not directly a theistic symbol. It becomes a theistic symbol after one is convinced that the symbol itself represents a supernatural entity or comes from a supernatural entity.

To me, Satan as a symbol simply means "Opposition" or "Adversary". Much like God as a symbol to me means "Invoke" or "Implore", I don't believe in them theistically, and I don't advocate them atheistically.

Concerning other Satanists, I don't generally tend to them as a serious group, most of them aren't and those that are don't have any valid experience to share besides their oppositional attitude. Which in my opinion, is only useful in the ring or on the podium.

First of all she didnt say everyone. It the same way I could say "monkeys climb trees"

Now, do all monekys climb trees? No, surely there is more than one monkey that had some brain or limb damage and couldnt climb again, but healthy monkeys orost monkeys climb trees.

Now, to the example at hand: yes, healthy human beings need deep emotional conections and are wired to desire them.

Exceptions exist when they can be happy without such but they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay scarcer than the amount of people who call themselves atheists, theists, or younamists.

Since atheists say that they simply don't believe in God, I don't see why they would need a Church/Temple/Synagogue/etc. It's not a religion. I just can't figure out what it's purpose would be. Churches/Temples/Synagogues/Mosques/Etc. are used for worship for theistic religions. Non-theistic religions would probably have one to learn to meditate (forgive my ignorance)or whatever.

It is the gathering of friends, family and community that is the most beneficial aspect of a church, and that really has very little to do with "gods" and "worship".

agree with gjall. Stupid idea. If groups of atheists want to go around doing charity work or having group meetings then fine but don't call it a church. It's hard enough trying to convince, some people, that atheism isn't a religion as it is.
