A temporary humanitarian cease-fire between Israel and Hamas went into effect at 10 A.M. on Thursday and was scheduled to last until 3 P.M. Three rockets were fired at southern Israel just two hours after the cease-fire went into effect, and another round was launched exactly two minutes [after it] expired.

The cease-fire was requested by Robert Serry, the United Nations special coordinator for the Middle East, in order to allow aid into the Gaza Strip.

Rockets hit Israel after 'humanitarian' lull begins

Delegations from Israel, Hamas reportedly arrive in Cairo for ceasefire talks, hours before five-hour humanitarian break comes into effect.​

Rockets continued to fall on Israel Thursday, before and even after an agreed five-hour UN brokered "humanitarian" pause in fighting began at 10 am. At around noon, rockets slammed into the Eshkol Regional Council, in breach of the ceasefire, and resumed again the moment the pause ended at 3 pm.

At noon at least three mortars were fired at southern Israel's Eshkol Regional Council, falling in an open area, in what was the first breach of the least. The post-lull attacked joined at least 11 additional rockets fired at Israel Thursday, joining over 113 fired in the last day and a half, the army said.

At 2:58 pm, moments before the pause was expected to end, rockets slammed into open areas in souther Israel, in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council and in Eshkol.

Palestinian sources reported asked Israel to prolong the five-hour long humanitarian ceasefire, but were turned down. Palestinian media also claimed Israel breached the pause, by returning fire after mortars were launched. …

UNRWA apologizes to Israel, condemns a ‘flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises’ and promises investigation; Israel calls on UN to ‘act strongly’​

Some 20 rockets were found Wednesday in a school in Gaza operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the organization confirmed Thursday.

The weapons were found in “the course of the regular inspection of its premises,” UNRWA said in a statement, adding that the school was vacant.

“UNRWA strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations. This is a flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises under international law,” the statement read.

The discovery would seem to confirm Israel’s oft-repeated claim that Hamas and other Gazan terror groups use civilian infrastructure to hide weapons.

“Yet again, Gaza terrorists abuse UN facilities to carry out their violent activities. Hamas and other terror groups are determined to put civilians in harm’s way and will respect nothing in their violent frenzy,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yigal Palmor told The Times of Israel. “We expect the UN and the international community to condemn and to act strongly against this brazen violation of international humanitarian law, which endangers children and UN humanitarian activities.”
