People have lost insight.

Most people think they are so smart, and it's so annoying. A lot of people I know have lost insight of who they are, and what it means to live. I blame the government more than most, and the people that run it. Society is brainwashed from day one. All most people know is what they've been told, or read on the internet, or saw on tv... it's a shame. People are spoon fed "facts" and information and eat it up like ice cream. No one can think for themselves these days, or at least come to their own conclusions. Most people are not truly happy. I walk around wal-mart, or any public place, and it is so obvious. A lot of people carry such a negative attitude.

Religion is not working it's magic anymore... why? While a lot of people claim their christian-like or believe in a god, they don't live their lives as such. People that do go overboard like crazy usually or misinterpret it. Young teenagers are having sex, exposing their bodies, doing drugs, drinking, and all that nonsense. Why? because instead of looking towards a religion or a philosophy, they are watching tv, and this is what it takes to be cool, to be hip, and to be accepted by their peers. Do parents care? Maybe, what they can do about it? Kids lack discipline. A parent hits their child and they throw them in prison. There was two rapings in DE in the past two months (about an hour from me). One incident involved a 7 year old girl, her older brother (by a couple of years) and his friends raped her. The mother barely did anything. I've lost all faith in newer generations, and most faith in current generations. I'm lucky to live in a small town with mostly down the earth people, wish I could say the same for everyone else. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Greed and lust is taking over.

I have two younger brothers (18), (13) and interact with newer generations on a daily basis.

Two words: Political Correctness. That's where everything stems from. We can't do anything now-a-days without someone labeling us a racist, a bigot or an abuser. It's a pretty sad state of affairs, I'll grant you that. Take away all the bleeding heart liberals and their politically correct agenda and things would get better. Needless to say, my daughter gets spanked for doing something wrong. BTW, I'm never happy when I'm in Wal-Mart either.

Yea, it's quite a few, I'd say I've talked to dozens and hung out with even more. And yes, like everything, there is exceptions. I know most people are good hearted and raised well. I'm saying the amount of people that arn't good heart and raised well is getting to be a lot more than it should.

We often dislike in others that which exists within ourselves. Our personal viewpoints about reality are more indictitive of ourselves than they are about the world at large. The truth can hurt and it does take some courage to face it head on.

The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.

I know why you would think that, but It's quite the contrary. I'm a very happy guy, I love my family, gf, and friends to death. and I don't outside people bring me down, it's just a shame society in general is not different, and most people arn't happy. When I go somewhere and everyone around me is ****** off or negative, it puts me in a bad mood. Mostly I don't have to deal with it because I live in a smaller down, just whenever I go to a big city or something I see it everywhere. I make the best out of everything and love my life. Also I believe that because of these people, society will be doomed down the road, maybe in the next decade even, which won't make me very happy at all. Many philosophers, the bible, mayans, also believe this too. so, maybe it's inevitable.

erm, you don't have to be a racist or a bigot or an abuser to think for yourself, and as a liberal who certainly agrees that political correctness is stupid, i would ask you not to tar everyone with the same brush.

as for the OP, do you have anything of substance to show us kdrier? i live at my university, i interact with hundreds of other students, and i have a lot of faith in my generation because i see our potential and our ability all around me on a daily basis. decent, hard working, intelligent, thoughtful young men and women. yes, almost every student i know drinks more than the recommended daily allowance, most of them drink that in the morning! i only know one person my age who is a virgin, i know a lot of people who have experimented with drugs but only oen or two who use on a regular basis. a lot of us watch TV, and we all need acceptance by our peers in one way or another.

all of that taken into account however, i fail to see your point that this means our society is doomed. non of these things are new, and society is still standing - why will it be different in the future?

You're right, my bad. But if you think political correctness is stupid then you don't fall into the bleeding heart liberal camp. But I see your point. But do you agree with me that political correctness is a mjor problem of today's society?

You're enviroment and location is a major factor of this realization, whether you percieve it as a major problem, or a minor one, it's still a problem. The problem is bigger in some places than it is in others. For example, you probably won't see these problems as consistant at a college, a small town, or a church. Like I said, most people don't fall into this category, but too many people are starting to.

Why do I think society is doomed? It's a combination of things. I'm 21, things in society (moreso the problems with society) have exponentially increased in the past decade, along with technology advancement, population, and things of that nature, things are starting to reach their peak. I started to realize this about two years ago, and me and my close friends researched it. We don't strongly believe it, but definitely see is as a strong possibility. Read up on the Mayans, and 12/21/12 when you get a chance. It's quite interesting, whether you believe it or not.

I most certainly do.
When it is considered wrong to call a bigot a bigot, or a racist a racist, or an exploiter and exploiter, or an abuser an abuser, i find that to be a problem.

Exactly, but it doesn't stop there. When you can no longer discipline a child by spanking without being called an abuser. When a teacher can no longer tell a certain kid to be quiet and be called a racist. There are problems in our society that weren't there even 30 years ago because of this politically correct attitude.

Take a look at Penguino's posts. Although he is very definitely a teen, he comes across as very bright and mature. I am certain there are others like him around. It is teens like that who restore my faith in the younger generation, although there are others who make me worry.
