Pressure On Biden To Pardon Trump

Many (if not most) pardons are issued
during the final days of a lame duck term.
Removal is no threat....if it ever were.
How many Presidents have ever been
removed, eh.

I remember reading something about the office of the president getting more and more powerful over the years.
Great if you support the guy running things. The majority who put them there tend to look the other way.

All eggs in one basket, eh.
Risky.

If I were a US citizen I'd request Biden not to pardon Trump, he doesn't need it and hasn't apologised for falsely accusing the elections of being rigged, so it would send a bad message.

If the DoJ wants to drop charges at least Biden will have sent the correct message regarding the unacceptability of Trump's behaviour in my view.

One of the most frustrating things about this election is the message it is sending that bullying and cheating can get you what you want.

Indeed. Ethics is out the window. Fairness is out the window. Equality is out th window. Our society and politics has largely functioned on the honor system, and it's rquired that the vast majority accept this. Now MAGA has changed this. They have devalued honor and dignity. Duty means nothing. For many decades republicans have operated with a ethos of "every man for himself" but they still worked within the system. Now they have devolved to an ethos that the system doesn't matter any more. Take what you can get, in whatever manner you can get it. Law is for those whe are dumb enough to honor the system and governance.

Not only will inflation affect the average citizen eventually, but the rich using the federal budget as a piggy bank will mean a balooning deficit, but perhaps even a default on our debt. We could face a collapse of our government and even banking systems. If Trump and his rich lackies have nothing more to get out of America they will easily move their assets elsewhere and allow the USA to collapse. A scenario like 1920's Germany could happen. At that time the German Mark collapsed and a loaf of bread cost a million marks.

The one bulwark could be some republicans who do not have massive wealth and still have families in the USA. They would understand the thrat Trump and billionaires posed and at some point they should work with democrats to stop Trump. That could be another impeachment, and even the senate convicting him this time.

Biden shouldn't pardon him. The DOJ can dismiss the cases without prejudice, and that means the charges can be brought again at a later date. Now, Trump's DOJ could refile the case and then after some time dismiss it with prejudice. but this would seem confusing to many, and surely hurt Trump's feelings.

I agree with most of this.I still think the courts could pull through on the 27th and punish him. He's not a sitting president yet.

He wants prosecutors to "do the right thing" by
dropping charges....because the people have
spoken.
It makes more sense to continue the charges
cuz the people voted for a candidate who was
being sued prosecuted. That's just who he is.
It's part of his savior/victim persona.
No, Bill Barr is right and you are wrong. The voters had sufficient information to consider about the charges against Trump. Despite those charges they voted to elect him. The expressed will of the people is Supreme.

Since when do voters directly decide court cases or laws?
The laws are still on the book and prosecutors and judges should decide based on what is law at the time. Congress may decide to make falsifying business record, fraud, slander and theft of classified documents legal, but they are not legal now.
If voters could decide laws directly, you'd probably not have a Second Amendment any more and weed would be legal everywhere.
