programmed to sin

It is wrong to overindulge in anything, because it causes problems. Overeating causes weight problems, over-drinking causes liver damage, people can get STDs from having unprotected sex with a lot of people, and so on. I never believed that God made rules like that just to be mean.

Over-populating jepardises our existance.

The bible states somewhere "go forth and multiply."

Thank you Christianity for bringing about our demise :p

what if you don't overindulge, it's still a sin if you murder once, or commit adultery once, etc...AND men LOVE having sex!!!...it's fun...people LOVE to eat...seems like we are programmed to sin....are we to deny our physical needs???

Of course not, but there is such a thing as temperance. It is a virtue.

If we love to eat, then I am hoping that we stop when we get satisfied and don't keep going until we burst. If we like drinking, then I hope that people can stop before they are blacking out, throwing up, and so on. If we like sex, we can only have sex with one person in a monogamous relationship, so we don't spread around disease or have a lot of unwanted babies and don't even talk about abortion.
It is in our power to do these things, we are rational human beings. We have a brain and we can think beyond our instincts.

On another forum I remember a Catholic using the same argument to tell why we couldn't use birth control. I told him that God didn't say that to us, but to Noah, when there were a lot less people. :):D:D:p:p :ignore:

humans are 'programmed' to ''sin''....a lot of men lust often around hot babes...it's just a physical thing....it CAN'T be helped...humans NATURALLY get angry, jealous, etc...and when they get angry, jealous, etc and want to stop their pain[[and most people don't like pain], sometimes they murder...

Romans 3:23
"... For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God ..."

I don't think we are judged on our ability to lead sinless lives, but on how well we fail at doing this. We are given an impossible ideal (Jesus Christ) and then encouraged to strive toward it. But the good news is that we don't have to be perfect for God to love us. I think it's possible to be spiritually perfect, like Frances of Asissi and Mother Teresa of Calcutta (recently made a saint much to the chagrin of Christopher Hitchens) but lucky for us regular folk it isn't mandatory. :D

god so loved the world... that whosoever believes in him...
will deny condoms to the poor people in calcutta
will blame haiti for making a pact with the devil
will blame homosexuality for 9/11
will risk their children's lives hoping god will heal them
will vote against same sex marriages
yes jesus loves me, the bible tells me so....

but the 'striving' seems to mean that we have to go against what were are 'programmed' to do...seems ridiculous...

OMG!..33 mil??isn't it like the third largest country--considering former USSR as a whole---??must be a LOT of open space up there-I always wanted to go up there, near the coast somewhere...

Yeah, we use a whopping nine percent of our landmass. :D

If water is the new oil, we are the new Middle East.
