Regarding being programmed to sin:

We are what we are. We were born this way. There's nothing we can do to change. We shouldn't want to overcome anything because to do so would be to deny our nature.

Huh. Now that you mention it, you're right.

I remember in jr. high it was the cool thing to say, "stop trying to be something you're not." As if making changes to yourself was the worst possible thing to do. What a crock of bull. Rather, I feel the entire purpose of coming into this life was to become something I was not. My purpose going forward is to become something I am not. At any point, if you are striving to improve--to become more than you are--you are trying to become something you're not. This requires a deviation from your present nature. I often thought, in hearing "At least I'm not trying to be something I'm not", "Well, stupid. Good luck in life remaining as you are."
