Well, no doubt there are some out there.
Would you claim that this is a common view?

Of all the people I know IRL, left, right, & other,
I'm not meeting anyone who sides with Putin.
While this isn't a rigorous study, it strikes me that
lefties aren't cheering a return of the Soviet empire,
& righties aren't cheering Putin's glorious victory.
They're all siding with Ukraine's independence.

Putin won't compromise. He's threatened everyone in sight including nuclear war and said that either Ukraine surrenders or Russia would make Ukraine disappear as a n ation.

Did he?
I can read and understand Russian...I have never heard Putin say that.

Besides I will not trust someone like Zelensky...I wonder whether he is really in Ukraine, right now.
He always makes videos of him wearing sleeveless shirts.
I mean...in Europe..it is still freezing....

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It's weird thing but I spend half my time totally agreeing with you and half my time (more or less) considering you to be utterly off base.
Well thats us. Brutally bashing our heads in merciless unforgiving debates, and then having a couple o' beers at the cafe' . ;0]

I refuted your claim which was my point.
I don't know any MAGA who sides with the invasion,

Common? Common enough to see stories like this:

Conference cheers for Putin as congresswoman keynotes

Georgia Republican U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene headlined a white nationalist conference in Florida where attendees cheered Russia's invasion of Ukraine and chanted the name of President Vladimir Putin shortly before she was introduced.

I am not understanding the intransigence of the Western world.
The most urgent thing is to end the war...through a compromise.
Then, once the war is finished, the West imposes its terms for a lasting peace.
It’s not intransigence to allow sovereign nations to make decisions for themselves. That is what sovereign means.

If Ukraine decides to make a pledge to not join NATO, that is up to them. But Russia doesn’t have the right to decide for them.

I don't think so.
By your rationale, I could prove that liberals
want the USSR back if I found an example,
& pretended it to be writ large.
So no, I'll go with my personal survey of
friends who are MAGAs, marxists, Democrats,
Republicans, Libertarians, & the politically
disaffected. The masses in Ameristan want
Putin's behind bloodied & sent back to Russia.

In 2019 I had made so many threads about welcoming Russia among us, about making her join G8 again.
If you guys hadnt isolated Russia, we would not be in this situation.

You're focusing on a point I did not make and refuting that. You mused if the MAGA pro-Putin sentiment was "common" which is different from asking if they were the majority or more ie "the masses".

So I am stopping playing rhetorical footsie on this topic.

You are saying tha poor little Putin can’t play with the big kids so he threw a temper tantrum.

Are you really trying to use this to justify the indiscriminate bombing of civilians?

Absolutely not.
War is something barbaric. I was just saying that we had it coming.
We should not have isolated Russia. We should have tried to find a compromise, a dialogue.
But the 44th POTUS did anything to isolate Russia

And I don’t believe it would have made any difference in the slightest. At most it would have altered the timing of events, but this is what Putin has always wanted to do. Even before he came to power Putin dreamed of a restored Russian empire.

The nonsense you are suggesting is neither the reason nor the justification of what we are seeing now.

Unfortunately I am right.
Because ...how did Putin justify the war to his citizens?

He told them " you see? The West is hostile to us. They neglect us. So, Ukraine is ours because we need to take it back from those hostile Russophobes".
And the people applauded him.

If we had befriended Russia, this narrative would have never worked out.

He justified it with a lie.

And if things had been different he might have had to invent a different lie.

As it is we can see that he had a number of alternatives ready to go. If Western hostility didn’t work, go with Nazi’s in Kiev, oh or how about nuclear weapons? If that doesn’t work he could come up with something else, (WMDs perhaps)

Putin was always going to do this no matter what.

I do not agree.
I think Americans have an innate Russophobia, regardless of Putin.
Which existed even by the time of the pro-American Yeltsin .
And which will exist even after Putin's death.
