Regardless, you are making a mistake in casting this as a USA vs Russia thing. It is a lot bigger than that.
Unfortunately it actually is a Russia-USA thing.
In Europe we never speak of Putin. We have much more serious issues to think of.
And sometimes this defense is from where you would least expect it.
VATICAN CITY (RNS) — As Pope Francis continued attempts to mediate the conflict in Ukraine, former Vatican envoy and outspoken papal critic Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò released a letter Monday (March 7) blaming “deep state” forces in the United States, the European Union and NATO for triggering the current war and demonizing Russia.
“The United States of America and the European States must not marginalize Russia but build an alliance with it, not only to restart trade for the prosperity of all, but in lieu of the reconstruction of a Christian Civilization, which will be the only one able to save the world from the transhuman and medical-technical globalist monster,” the archbishop wrote in his nearly 10,000 word letter.
The archbishop said in his letter that Putin has been cornered by an aggressive NATO, backed by the United States, which is seeking to escalate the conflict for its own gains. “This is the trap for Russia just as much as Ukraine, using both to allow a globalist elite to bring its criminal plot to fruition,” Viganò wrote.
Viganò adopted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s justifications for attacking Ukraine, lamenting the lack of media coverage of supposed neo-Nazi groups in Ukraine that have allegedly attacked Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the autonomous eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ridiculed the idea that Nazism is behind the eight-year-old conflict in his country’s east, which Russia invaded in 2014.

Yes. Many Italian reporters went there and took all the documentation. All the evidence. So I do believe because I watched countless evidence.

I wonder about this because my friend who is
heading to Ukraine to fight Russians knows a
gal there who is a Russian speaker.
Her only complaint is that wages are low.
No extermination of Russians....no pogrom...
...no genocide. It was peaceful til the invasion.

And the latter is biased because of the Italians'

You're Italian...you're the one who told me you
guys love Putin & Russia. So I discount any news
from Russia & its allies, eg, Belarus, Italy.
Italy should leave NATO if they support the Russian
invasions of other countries. Other NATO members
wouldn't be able to trust Italy for assistance if Russia
invaded them. Italy might even side with Russia, &
support more invasions, given Putin's influence there.
A country that sided with Hitler, & now Putin is a country
to be wary of.

Or Italy could leave the NATO for considering unacceptable that the US, after Nine Eleven sided with Saudi Arabia.
It seems that Italy has many reasons to leave NATO.
Why would it ever join or remain?
Forced to join by USA or Soros?
It would make sense for such a weak country that
needs Russian financial aid & trade to align with
Russia formally, & not pretend to support NATO
neighbors. Italy is more like Cuba than a European
country.
If Italy becomes Russian, the Mediterranean becomes a Russian lake.
I am already picturing the scene...bold courageous Russians taking possession of any Mediterranean island.

You'd be living the dream.
However, other countries on the Mediterranean
would resist Russia claiming that sea & its islands
as its own. It would portend more war.
That is the point.
We are over the notion of war.

If it were up to me, I will dismiss all armies.
Why can't US and Russia be allies?
Leaders don't want to.
