Question about oxygen levels

We Never Know

That doesn't explain why you were disagreeing with Subduction Zone.

Because they have previously said with all the water and the rise in sea level, it would have crushed everthing and the air would have been to thick to survive in(something like that). No I won't go back to find the quotes.

No one said that. I think that you are misunderstanding what was said and why.

Ok. In your words explain what would have happened to Noah and all in the ark if the world would have completly flooded to over the highest peaks.

This way your explination will clear up any misunderstandings. I think that is fair.

The animals would starve to death if they hadn't already killed each other. But that assumes all the animals were able to be collected in the first place and a hand built boat big enough to hold them was able to float.

That's beside the point and isnt what is at question.
And I agree. Millions of species from huge to microscopic wouldn't be possible in my opinion.

Okay, but first I have to ask a question. Where did the water come from?

If it was in the air then that would have increased air pressure. Air pressure is just the weight of everything in the air above you. So if you took a column of air only one inch by one inch that went all the way to the top if the atmosphere, then cooled it and compressed it until it was solid or liquid and then weight that air it would way roughly 15 pounds.

And since we are talking surface area here and volume metric may be easier. The mass of air above one square meter would be about ten tons. It would take a column of water 33 feet tall to generate the same amount of pressure. In fact when one dives down it is 33 feet for one atmosphere of additional pressure. It would be close to 30,000 feet to cover the Earth. If all of that water was in the air it would increase air pressure. As I said, that is why many flood believers try to get it out in space somehow.

That is why I ask "Where did the water come from?" I can explain the problems that each scenario would cause.

There's probably some truth to the Noah story but it was likely a farmer who saved his family and livestock from a localised flood and the story grew around the camp fire.

It does not need any rephrasing. You could try to figure things out for yourself now that you have the basics. I know that the myth says that the waters came "from the deeps" as well. Though that is terribly unclear.

This time I will tell you what is still wrong wit that. Let's say only half was in the air. Then you would have a pressure about the same as 15,000 feet under water. At that depth one has to breathe a mixture of helium and oxygen. Nitrogen is too soluble in the body and it would almost surely kill a person.

The reason that I do not want to say where the water came from myself is that I do not want to be accused of making a strawman argument. That is why I asked you where the water came from. How much from each area? Do you understand why I don't want to make any assumptions about what someone else believes?

Well try this ...

Its said that there are over 6 quintillion gallons(over six million trillion) of water hiding in the Earth’s crust. Its a guess as it could be half less or 10 times more. We don't know

A cubic mile of water equals around 1.1 trillion gallons.

How much could have came from the deep?

I would say "citation needed". You are probably talking about water in the mantle. And that is another thing altogether. That would lead to questions of "how did it come out?" That water would be at a very very high temperature too. It would have cooked Noah and company. It would have burnt everything on the surface of the Earth. Have you heard of the sort of burns that "live steam" can do? That is water, heated above the critical temperature and under high pressure. That would be mild compared to water coming out of the mantle.

And the same problem arises if it was in space. If I was in orbit of some sort it would be loaded with kinetic energy which would turn into heat energy as it came out of orbit.

Again you would cook Noah and family to a crisp.

EDIT: Never mind, let me figure hot how much that would be in feet.

Here's a few. My bet is you will s aren't good enough..

PS: If you don't like these. There is this new thing called "google". Its pretty helpful if one uses it.

Was it all from the air?

Genesis 7:11 water rose from the fountains of the great deep

Now I know you will tell me I am wrong but won't tell me how I am wrong unless I ask nicely and admit I am wrong. Then you will offer to teach me if I beg you lmao

Subglacial lakes could be what the "fountains of the deep" refer to. Superglacial lakes (like Lake Missoula, which covered the mountains) could be the "fountains from above."

No, they are good enough. The problem is that if you somehow got all of that water out it would not help. It would raise sea level by 53 meters, well actually a bit more since. Let's call it 70 meters. A bit over 200 feet. I can't see that water leaving the Earth, but you would now only flood the coasts. Add about another foot, which is the most that I think that the atmosphere can hold and you are far away from flooding the Earth.

It is late at night and I know that there is a lot of water, widely spread in the mantle. The mantle would be dryer than drywall (which does have a fair amount of water in it). It was my error since I knew that if someone could get the water out of the mantle that it would be enough to flood the Earth, but again, you have that live steam problem.

You would not have that problem with water in the crust, but there is not nearly enough water to flood the Earth.

They said no such thing.

In post 12, Sub Zone said, "Now why the air pressure would be so much higher for the Noah's Ark myth is due to all of the water that some believe would be in the atmosphere. That water would have mass and it would press down on you just as water does today. All of that water in the air would not get a free ride. It would raise the air pressure. A lot. That is why they often try to have a "canopy" above the Earth, but that introduces a whole new set of problems." However, this is saying that IF there was enough water carried in the air as water vapor to cause a 20,000 foot increase in sea level it would increase the air pressure. And that is correct. When air contains water vapor, it's density increases. But this does NOT mean that the increase of sea level that would result from this water vapor coming out of the air as rain would crush everything. Exactly the opposite. With the water vapor no longer in the air, the air would be less dense and the atmospheric pressure would go down, not up. And remember, this is assuming that the creationist potion that the water for the flood was previously carried in the air as water vapor was correct. And Subduction Zone has never claimed that to be the case.

The only person who ever came close to saying that the rise in sea level would cause everything to be crushed was YOU, in post 5, when you said, "With that said I have seen arguments stating if Noah's flood happened, the pressure would be to great..." And you weren't even saying that it would be the case, just that you had heard people say that would be the case.

So nobody has said what you claim Subduction Zone said. So I honestly don't know why you are arguing against him. From where I stand, both of you seem to be agreeing with me in that there would be no meaningful difference in air pressure if the sea level rose.

One problem with those is that they were long before the Flood of Noah, and yet a much much much larger worldwide flood did not leave any evidence of its existence. We do have good evidence of such floods as the draining of Lake Missoula. The Channeled Scablands are from that flood.

That we have evidence of far older floods but none for a larger and much more recent one is why geologists will say that there was no flood of Noah.

To be fair I think that he was talking about other threads.

I have seen in other threads people that opposed the flood that did not understand air pressure and thought that raising sea level would mean a drop in air pressure. But he also did not appear to understand how the claims of some flood believers would have raised air pressure. If you put all of that water in the air, or if one puts only half of it in the air, it would still be an atmosphere where one was basically breathing water.

Ooh, and I just thought of one more thing. If it was water vapor when it condensed that would also release a huge amount of energy. Now they are going to cook Noah from the inside out and outside in at the same time.

Really? You don't do this..

"you will tell what, why and how I am wrong but only if I am nice and ask the right questions" oh then you will offer to teach me if I admit I am wrong"

Here's a question, correct me if I am wrong... In the christian forums didn't you get banned indefinitely for the same things?
I've reported you for trolling.
