Since the galaxy is not solid then as the galaxy rotates the arms slowly wind up. After about 1 rotation or so, they are no longer shaped like a pin wheel.

First they should not have existed at all.
Second if they were that old they not now exist.
Thirdly, the universe is only 6000 years old so they would not be wrapped at all.
They do exist because God created them that way.

By the way even the closest galaxy is too far away for 6,000 year old universe. In fact if the universe was that young we could not even see across our own galaxy.
