Racial Hatred

Are you talking about those attacks on Asians on Oakland and such? I'm fairly certain those have more to do with trashy ghetto blacks wanting an easy target to assault and rob, than it does with Covid. (All the attack cases I'm aware of involve a black person attacking - mostly - elderly Asian people.)

That's a bold statement. And a racist one at that, even if all assailants were black.

No, this is in response to a white guy who targeted Asian women at Asian owned salons and gunned down 6 because he blamed them for his sexual frustrations. In response the police did not call him trashy or what he really was, a terrorist, and instead said he 'had a bad day.'

I realize that now. I hadn't realized they had gotten that far with the case already. The most I read was an article last night when it first happened and that a white guy was the suspect. Before it was mostly the attacks in Oakland in the news, so I thought that was what the thread was about.

IMO:
Is racial hatred a mental health issue?
Definitely some mental issues

There has been a lot of racial hatred news lately. I don't get it, don't understand it. Why attack a person for no other reason than their race?
Arrogance/belittling. My belief/color/looks are better than your belief/color/looks. That is one of the major diseases in the world

Asians being attacked because of Covid-19. I don't get the connection. How did the random Asian on the street cause you personal harm?
I read a few days ago, that China attacked and accused India for being the cause of Covid-19. That could be the connection

You arrest the culprit, but them in jail, does this really solve the problem?
Should this be addressed as a psychological issue that ought to be addressed by psychiatric counseling?
To cure mental issues is not easy. Most of these deep mental issues originated before age 4-7
Better focus on education of the youth (and those who want to work on themselves)
So that the next generation is free of these mental aberrations

They should brainwash kids at school at very early age; deprogram sick thoughts, and program healthy thoughts

Another solution might be to chip everyone, and whenever they have an unhealthy thought, generate a nasty electrical pulse:D

Do you feel tribal? I don't. Maybe I'm abnormal.
I don't know as I do, but as a species I suspect it's always somewhere below our civilised veneer. People who are materially wealthy and/or educated are perfectly capable, of course, of being racist. I'm sure we can all think of examples from the public domain, historically and currently.

uhhh because racism duh........

Really? you don't get the connection? Have you been living under a rock the last year? Not saying I agree nor condone the actions of those idiots but to go as far as saying you don't get the connection is a bit hyperbolic

Usually, I can piece together why a person might act a certain way. For this, I can't fathom the thought process. That's why I think it might be an aberration.

I know you can say "racism" but I don't think this justifies it. Kind of throwing everything into a box called racism and assuming the question has been answered.

True, but happily, we're making moral progress.

Take any two competing groups and compare the present to the distant past. Compare Christian Protestants to Christian Catholics, for example. They're not killing each other anymore. Even us non-Christians see that as a good thing.:)
Well Christians might not be, but there's still plenty of tribes being aggressive to other tribes (Sunni v Shia, Buddhist v Muslim...)

Yes, I know it exists. It's in the news too often. I can understand in the past, tribes competing for resources. I guess I don't understand why it still exists as prevalent as it seems to be.

Fair enough. I think it will always persist. The Other is automatically a potential threat or competitor for resources.

People say "white trash" all the time. There's trash in all groups. They say worse in the hood.

Not helping your case any. Calling something white trash is also racist. Regardless of who or how many people are saying it.

Edit: They say worse in the hood? I live somewhere you would consider "hood". And not afaik. Respect is as respect does.

Yes, my daughter was fired for using the "N" word. She's white, the guy she called the "N" word is also White.

Most of her friends are Black, calling each other the "N" word is part of their culture now. Her and her friends think nothing of it.

Well, at least you're consistent.

And, yes - they say worse in the hood. White devil, cracker, ******, ******, etc.

Like I said, these aren't things that have cropped up in my conversations and dealings with others. But hey, those people talking like that are just as racist as the next guy.

Racial hatred, like religion is usually indoctrinated from an early age. Education over generations is the only way i see to get rid of it
You have it exactly right, and I've seen it myself: children have to be taught to see racial differences as threatening and hateful. Left to their own devices, especially if there are multiple ethnic children in a little group, they won't even notice.

It was 'education' over ages that got it to where it is today, so this makes sense. I think the fact that people of all races are far more mobile has helped substantially.

When you see a mix of ethnicities playing together at a pre school kindergarten. Only when they age a little and are indoctrinated by elder children and adults.

I've seen this happen often enough. My own children are mixed.

It is a bit worse than that. He was a customer of those "salons". He attacked Asian massage parlors. In the US a high proportion of those are prostitution sites. He blamed them for his own sex addiction.

I wondered about that when so man reports in the news
of the Oakland area didn't mention race of the assailants.
A little digging turned up the problem you pointed out.
Beware impressions created by news media.
It's a problem in NYC too.

My kids are genetically pure....no Scot genes.
BTW, my son (Asian) was targeted for bullying &
theft by black kids...even in ultra-liberal Ann Arbor.
We had "the talk" (how to fight to win, & then
coping with authorities).
